Any idea what the prices are on that Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta. I'm looking for a good non-RFT summer tire. Sick of these crappy runflats.

Pilot Sports!

After owning many sets and then experiencing them on a 335i for many days, I have to say these are the most trust-worthy tires I have driven on. They have grip that is unmatched by most.

My current favourite for street tyres is what came standard on my C63. Pirelli P Zero - super grippy! This is the new P Zero that was released last year and not their old stuff of the same name which isn't very good.

Bridgestone RE-11
Dunlop Z1 Star Spec
Kuhmo XS

Check out the Bridgestone RE-01R that is currently on closeout at tirerack. An awesome deal if they have the sizes you want.

The Vredesteins are a decent budget tire, but definitely much better out there.

Check out the Sumitomo HTRZIII's. Reviewed quite well on TireRack testing and they aren't expensive at all.

This thread was asking about the "best" street tire. Well in terms of ultimate dry grip or a combination of both wet and dry performance, there are tires that are simply better then the vredesteins.

Sure.. but not same price
Vredsteins is a great buy, you save 20% from F1 Asymmetric.

better, sure, but in terms of performance within the comparable price range being discussed here ($150-$250), your statement makes it sound like there are "much better out there" within that price range.

still waiting to see what exactly you are referring to...specifics would be nice.

Continental Conti Sport 3s are actually very good too. Not that many people to know though. They do compare favorably to the Vredesteins and the Goodyears.

I would agree that the PS2s are THE BEST tires for the 1-er...but IMO they wear too quickly.
At around $1200 a set...the cost/benefit is just not worth it for me...especially on the street.

Now for the track...they are a great choice.

I run the General Exclaims, and at half the price, they are an excellent performance tire for
the street. They are very comparable in rating to the Yokohama S...check the diagram...

Probably not what the op is looking for, but I avoid high performance tires because I have a long commute and high performance tires are too expensive and don't last worth a damn. Last time I got a set they cost a fortune and only lasted like 15k miles. Fuck that.

I was looking for a good tire that delivers long life and decent performance and I chose the Goodyear ResponsEdge. So far I've been pretty pleased with them and they do look very nice (almost identical to the asymmetric posted above).

I went to the Melbourne Motor Show today and saw that the Audi RS6 also uses the new Pirelli P Zero like my C63. I have tried most of the high end street tyres before, and I can honestly tell you that the P Zero is the best and stickiest! Not sure how much though, but I suspect it isn't going to be cheap.
