Motor Magazine has M3 snippet

I will post a scan when I do one tomorrow at work, but they have a good comgen of the M3, plus inside confirmation of the V8 with 303kW/420Nm capable of 8250RPM, BMW have also contracted with ZF to supply a DSG style transmission (supposedly for the M3). Hope the DSG also finds its way into an E90 update

Not that I'm in the market for an M3, but I fear that car will be heavy heavy heavy. M2 would be sweet.

Weight may be another point in the 335i's favor (vs. M3). The USA version of the 325 is 150 lbs. lighter than the 330i, and has a quicker rear end (drive ratio), contributing to its sporting nature. Put the 335 moto in the E90 with M-sport goodies and 325 differential gearing and I think we have a winner.

It has been reported that BMW has said the new 4.0L V8 will not weigh much, if any, more than the 3.2L I6 in the E46 M3. The E46 M3 weighed in a bit higher than the 330ci coupe, and so I expect the new E90 M3 to register only slightly higher on the scale than the 330i.

I hope so, but I don't think so.

330i is 1425kgs here in my country.
335 with twinturbo etc wil always be 50kgs more I think.
4.2 or 4.4 litre V8 M3 will go beyond 1500kgs. I'm shure

I bet it will be something like that, I wonder if they realise that they will need to turn the wick up on power a bit...

Cant tell from that shot but i would have liked more of a muscle flex in the bonnet, like the e46 m3.

I agree it looks a bit tame, perhaps they have the pics for a 335ci, but have the specs for the M3.

The competition does look good - wonder how that will affect the final product?

I agree JamieA, the Benz looks awesome, I reckon that Benz is trying to make their cars look less old and stuffy which is about time if you ask me. I drove a brand new E class around spain last year and must admit it was a very refined car all round but didnt have the youthfull look of a BMW. Im still wondering if i should be looking at AMG65 as thats probably the only merc that i really love, but what a price tag. Sounds like a definate second hand purchase.

Just remember, Mercedes needed to buy out AMG in order to give their cars a flair of performance.

The BMW Motorsports division was an intrinsic part of the company's DNA when it was born.

It shows...

And that VERY l-o-n-g pedal travel that makes all Benzes seem a little dozy, though I hear that AMG fix that little issue

Actually, the trick there is to weld a 1" block under the gas pedal. Not only does it fix the long travel issue, it also allows you to access only those portions of the engine power band to which the vehicle's body weight, suspension and brake system are capable of handling properly.
