If that's really true, my deposit becomes very valuable.

Someone from BMW M.
The plan now is to build only 2,500 cars!! But we never know, they might decide later to build more than that! Nothing is official yet until BMW M releases the final specs of the car.

In two years, 2500 cars is more than demand will likely call for. There are barely 600 S54 E66/8 M Coupes, built over two years, and at the end of production, you could get them at a discount. Same goes for the three years of E86 M Coupe production, and for the Z8 and Alpina (albeit at a different price point). For a two or even three year run, 2500 1M Coupe S-Drive 3.0T(T?)'s will be more than enough.
What the hell are they going to call the convertible if they build it? 1M Roadster? That's seems ridiculous, so it's probably what they'll do. |

And do we know for sure that Detroit will be where the car is unveiled?

God I hope they make it. Demand for a stick vert is pretty low and it would make it a lot easier for me to get one

Well I don't know about that. I will ask my source and tray to get more details from him if I can.

I don't live that far from Detroit, and would definitely attend the show if they are going to indeed unveil the 1M there....

I think the E86 M Coupe is a maybe the precedent or template for this vehicle, both in name and execution. To me, that is a gorgeous car, and destined to become a classic BMW, but they only sold about 1800 in the US (if my numbers are right). And we may be looking at an even shorter production run for the 1M. BMW may just have their numbers dead on. Of course, the big question is what is this thing going to sell for? I really think they've got to keep it mid-$40k's to make any sense.

Since a fully optioned 135i has a MSRP over $50k, I have to believe the 1M will be higher than mid 40s. I am betting starting price in the high 40's, nicely optioned mid 50s , fully optioned high 50s.

Most likely late 2012 to early 2013 production.
