Need Help Removing D1S bulb

I've tried for 3 damn hours to get the low beam/d1s bulb off and I cant figure this thing out.

Someone please help me.

I can't believe there isnt a DIY for the E8X's.

Before anyone mentions it,I Know how to take off the cover, and I know how to change the H8 Bulb..that part is simple.

What I can't figure out is how to remove the Xenon bulb.

also this http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=41184

DIY will not help. I used to have an E92,and the process is completely different.

Unlike the E92 the bulb on these cars isnt held in place by two large wire clips..and for the record the E92 is a piece of cake compared to these cars.

So..can someone help me out here ?

Here's a pic for reference

slowly turn it either clock wise or counter clockwise and the prongs will begin to lift

Thanks Simon ! I finally figured it out..it should be noted that the black clip that holds the bulb in place where the prongs are, is what actually needs to be twisted.

I took a pic to give an idea..hopefully someone can do a quick DIY for the future,or atleast sticky some of this stuff..

It took me a couple of minutes to figure that there was a latch to disengage the bulb myself. I'm glad I didnt tug or pull on the bulb

Why are you changing the bulbs? I'd be concerned with condensation afterwards - like a lot of poeople report problems after changing AE bulbs. Just make sure that back pannel is put back on correctly. Otherwise new headlights are $1,500 per pop.

Yah those back covers are a pain to get on right. Mine is condensating so I have to re evaluate the back cover again...

Got some new Philips 8500k bulbs

Not concerned with it in the least..if it happens,i'll worry about it then.

Not gonna lose sleep over some headlights..

But thanks anyways, and yes the covers are on correctly.

I thought I had it aligned properly. The only concerning part was trying to wedge it back under a metal coolant pipe blocking me from straightening it out.

I did have trouble putting the silver clips too... might have missed the two inserts at the bottom. Bringing it in to the dealer for them to look at it and plead not guilty

it looks like it right ? I dont know what it is..I tried cleaning it off,but it doesnt appear to be oil.Its some type of stain.I don't have the slightest clue as to what it is,I recently bought the car pre-owned,so I dont know the history on it.

Yeah..IMHO,it's best to have a friend help.

I had my best friend help me and make sure we got everything buttoned up perfect. He held the radiator coolant piping while I put the cover and clips back in place.

Good luck at the dealership !
