Am I the Only One that Likes the Looks...
The consistent theme I've read in most reviews and internet postings about the 1-series is that its a great car but the looks are judged to be somewhere between "debatable, objectionable, and atrocious".
However, I honestly really like the way the car looks. I actually noticed the car based on its looks and freaked when I read about how great its performance is. Its by far the best iteration of the flame surfacing or whatever they call it. To me, it looks aggressive, purposeful, and fast, and very BMW. The only thing I don't like is that the waistline is a little high, but safety regs are making every car that way. I've gotten so many compliments on my car, despite it being hideously dirty. I think it stands out from the sea of 3 series out there, and in a good way. Does anyone else genuinely like the way their car looks, or has everyone just sacrificed asthetics for performance? |

It's all relative. I never thought it was an ugly car. There are unflattering angles perhaps, but overall it is a very good looking car. I used to think the E92 3-series coupe was better looking, but maybe I see it way too much, because now I think it is rather bland. Very happy with my choice.

I think the 135i looks very nice but it's very under-the-radar in terms of being an outright performance car. I'm hoping with my wheels, carbon bits and an aftermarket hood it'll definitely look like a true sports car

I really like the looks of the 128/135. I've bought both, and I prefer the subtle enhancement on the 135i, like the spoiler and the rear diffuser..... i even like the the 2010 side mirrors--they make the car less curvy, and a little more purpose-built. I think there are some different cut lines on the side skirts of the 2010 1-series vs. the 2008, they hide the two greasy external drainage stains from the bottom of the doors better.
Yes, I would have bought anything in the 1-series for America, even a hatchback, because I love the size and the performance. But I am especially pleased that the model is so rare. You rarely see them around NYC. I think I see more Maseratis than 1-series!! |

I think it's freaking HOT -- I got my first official wave on the highway today from another BMW driver! I get a TON of looks, all positive for sure, and tons of compliments from friends and such. Not ONE negative comment regarding looks.
As far as it not advertising its performance on its sleeve, that is a HUGE part of what I like about it! STEALTH! Way more sophisticated than, say, a fast Nissan. I'm not dissing that kind of a look, but it's not what I'd call "sophisticated" in the way the 1ers are! I'm IN LURVE!!! I told my girlfriend... I have two Babies now, honey... |

I love the looks and always have.
I feel that the 128/135 looks sportier than the 3-series. The 3's just look very plain to me. Maybe because every 10th car I see on the road is a 3.

After a year with mine, I still like the look. 1-Series just feels like a good, snug fit. Nothing against the 3s (M3 remains dream car, but this is five years away), but the 1 fits like a glove. Still a rarity; I see very few on the roads (I know they're out there).

People underestimate our cars true performance. A friend looked at my car and said with a biggot smile, that car isn't fast. I told him to hop in. Lets say by the end of the ride
he changed his mind.

The Hyundai rear taillight treatment, the rocker panel swooooooooooooop, and the pronounced midline ridge are questionable at best.
If you turn off the lights and backlight the profile, it's a home run. However, Bangle's Ex-Lax touch is apparent when it comes to the details. I like the car's overall stance, but some elements are utterly tasteless. |

The only thing I don't really like about our beloved cars, is the line that our door makes. It swoops down and makes this weird bubble shape. I would've liked it to have gone straight across, and a straight across sideskirt. Other than that, I've no complaints. I think our headlights look good too, even though the rest of the bimmer community seems to disagree.

I like the look of the 135i M-Sport very much...EXCEPT for the wheels, they are fugly.
The problem i have with 135i is it looks small (it isnt small but i looks tiny to me) if they had made it the size of the 3 series I think it would look better than 335i

I love everything about the car except the preggo belly.
I think the 135i is one of one of best looking converitibles on the market. It looks great both top up and top down. The best comment I have ever heard is from a random guy. "Wow thats a beautiful car, now wash the damned thing!" |

I have to agree with that, as a vert compared to other verts it does look the best (when the top is down)

I love the looks and styling of the ONE! And it has the performance to back up the aggressive looks.
