MHD questions

hey all, I just bought my 2008 135i MT and am very eager to tune it. It has 97K miles but previous owner has done tons of maintenance. it got new OEM turbos from BMW about 15k miles ago and has fresh oil and new spark plugs. Also, the previous owner installed a bms DCI on it, but it is stock besides that. I think i've covered all my bases and am ready for more boost however I cant decide what route to go.

Im leaning towards MHD but I don't have an android device. So I would need to buy an android device and all appropriate cables and the MHD maps. a few questions i have are:

1. How much does it cost to get the MHD gauges on your android device?
2. Do you need to have your device plugged in to OBD2 to see the gauges or is there a bluetooth option like the jb4 connect rev kit?
3. Can MHD read/scan codes and clear them?
4. This is probably a stupid question that I could have done more research for, but what options are there for running e85 on MHD?

I want to go with MHD, but I love how JB4 has the bluetooth app for gauges and reading/clearing codes as well as e85 compatibility. Any imput is appreciated!

You can run MHD Backend Flash and a JB4 if you want the benefits of both.

If picking one, I'd go with MHD. There's ton of info on N54tech and E90post that would answer all your questions.

Here's the app page with general info.

1. $69
2. yes, for now cable is a must but we are working on proposing a BT interface.
3. Yes, better than JB4 that doesn't display shadow (inactive) codes. MHD is even free for codes read / delete.
4. We have an ethanol maps pack with e25 e40 and e60 variants.

Okay, my turn to try to install the MHD Flash. Sorry to steal this thread, but I didn't think it necessitated creating a new one.

I haven't attempted any prior flash, but the car is second hand. I can't back up the ECU because it is read protected. Screenshots attached.

Where do I go for help please?

We still need to do a n54 MHd thread here...in between, just email us.

Curious what changes, generally, are made to the maps between normal Automatic and the Alpina maps? I guess I'm asking why is one preferable over the other?

I just switched to the alpina, and reflashed selecting the auto with alpina option, and it got me wondering...

The torque declared to the transmission is scaled higher for the alpina flash, because it can accept more torque declared by the DME and will use some more line pressure.
