You sold too early. 3-4 year old ones were being sold at that sort of money.

Not really, the 1M will be the same. Or like all BMW's it's going to depreciate, its a mass produced vehicle by BMW. Just buy it, drive it and enjoy it.

The CSL had the problem of being pitched price wise too close to the GT3, which is a vastly better car.

I'm not buying a 1M (I wish I could..) but if i were to buy one it wouldn't be as an investment or due to it's exclusivity. No offence to anyone who thought / thinks of the 1M as an investment but thinking of a new car that costs around 100k as an investment is moronic. This is a weapon of a car that should be enjoyed by more than 100 people in the country.

Granted you don't want to see the same car 10 or 15 times a day but when the car has a 100k+ price tag it's safe to say its not going to be a common sight. Take the e9X M3 for example. I have no idea how many of these things have been sold in Australia but i'd say it would be 1000+ and you rarely see them on the road.

If I owned one I couldn't care less if it was worth half its value the next day, it's an emotional purchase with a lot of sentimental value. Anyone who has driven a 135i knows the potential of this beast!

how do you say "OUCH" in australian ???? That had to hurt...

On a similar note, i just cant get over the numbers you guys throw around for high end non-exotic cars... it takes a while for my head to wrap around those numbers... whats a "cheap" car go for ??/ like a Hyundai or a Fiat or something like that ??

The fact that a regular M3 at the time was ~$150k retail drive away probably had alot to do with it. I mean they were what, 65% more expensive and that was at a time when taxes etc were a fair bit lower too, BMW greed IMO. I have been watching them used for the past year or too and they are pretty rare, obviously, and are flat in terms of the advertised price, $100-120k with very low k's for a 2004 model car (versus 70s for a vanilla E46 M3 with more k's). I would love one personally but I am not a SMG guy. In the UK you can get one for ~£40k and in black, which we never got, anyway sorry for the rant......

Guys, why is this post becoming another 'cars are expensive in aus' thread. I've lived both places and yes it's true, and annoys the heck out of me but its nothing to do with this thread.

Back on topic; I have seen nothing in international press suggesting overall build numbers are increasing - anyone spotted anything? If not, likely aus is just taking some RHD allocations from Asia, and no reason to believe it means additional colours, dct etc. I will be very surprised if they change the spec of this car. That said, I am a little annoyed about the increased allocation; but so what, complain to my dealer and he will offer my deposit back, but that would mean no 1M - bad result! If they had told us 200 up front we would still think it was pretty limited

Official stance:
Whilst BMW Australia have requested addition allocation and it is likely that we will receive more allocations, nothing as yet has been confirmed by BMW AG. We expect the additional vehicles (if we receive them) will come from the first half of 2012 production.

We anticipate confirmation of our request in mid July.
