As far as being an entry model, to me the coupe isn't the entry model, in the UK we have the hatch which is the so called "entry" model, also some people think of the Mini being BMW since they're sold in the same garages and built by BMW?

I also think BMW will be shooting themselves in the foot to some extent, how many people on this forum would go out and buy a 3 series if the 1er didn't exsist, i haven't yet decided 100% which one i'll get! I do however think they may gain some new sales from people who just like the 1er and not the 3er or can't quite stretch that extra couple of grand for a 3er so won't be a complete "shooting in the foot".

Anyway everyone's entitled to there own opinion, I don't know as well as you guys how the US car market works so i'll keep my fingers crossed for ya. Still think you'll be getting a bargin compared to Europe!

Demographics in Europe are way different than here in the States. We don't have smaller Alpha's or nifty Ford Focus ST's.

The 135i @ $35,000 is a steal! Hell a small econobox suv like the Ford escape is almost $30k

you either got the hybrid or A LOT of options. even the XLT is base priced @ 21.

regarding pricing, I don't really speculate on pricing much. I know what I will pay and what I won't. I just have to wait and see what the pricing is. All the speculation in the world won't affect the numbers that BMWNA releases.

This is the best way to look at it and I concur. If BMW's pricing comes over what I am willing to spend, then my money goes elsewhere.

The reason this car is appealing to me at this point in time is it provides a good bang for your buck but at high 30's it starts closing in on other cars I would want just as much.

/agree speculating over price is pointless. It's like hoping for a christmiss gift when your a kid.

BTW, it a "Limited" fully loaded, $29,400.

I seriously hope you're joking?:eyebulge:

For 50k, Chris Bangle had better show up personally every weekend to wash & wax your 135i!

A fully optioned AT with destination could certainly hit $45k... plus tax & documentation... could be within a whisper of $50k, alright.

just for fun, I went build one. the limited I had built (4wd, chrome wheels, & nav) was up to 29,275 BEFORE I even got to the options page. I guess options really do pile up, even on a Ford.

Used to be the perfect balance of sport, handling and luxury. BMWs have become increasing fat and numb, so it's more marketing driven, which is tragic.

And Garrett, get a spell checker (hint: Mozilla has one built in). Reading your mispelling ridden posts is painful.
