Anybody Else Blownout a NON-RFT?
Just getting curious about this now as I have a break from school.
A couple of months ago I was driving in the night and I hit something, it wasnt a pothole, and it wasnt there the next day. Anyway home was only another 10 min away, so I didnt stop. Next morning I come out to a flat. Call BMW Assist and they take me to my dealer. They pump up the tire and there is a massive gash in the sidewall just below the lip of the wheel. Sorry no pics. Anybody ever had a similar situation? Tire is an 18" Pilot Sport PS2, non-rft. |

Sure thing.
It was my fun evening with BMW No-assist. Hit a RR track and pinched the sidewall. Took 2 days to get a replacement Dunlop. That's why I now carry a donut in the trunk.

If you drive a car with low profile tires in areas where roads need repair, you'll do eventually do damage. I've blownout many tires, busted a few wheels, etc over the years. Luckily none so far with my One and I'm on 19's now. That's why I go with inexpensive tires. But then again, it might be more likely on inexpensive tires also. Another thing I hate is that often you really should replace tires in pairs or else the car just won't ride right.
