Dynolicious app pretty damn accurate!
had this app for a while now but never used it until today. it was difficult finding a long enough stretch of a road that was clear and level. the conditions weren't ideal and I was only able to make one pass. 0-60 and 1/4 mile time is terrible partly because I had wheel spin in 1 & 2 gears but what is striking is how accurate the hp estimate (307) was. planning on trying again after I get my tune. should be able to tell the hp increase from any mods.
btw, the graph showing hp is showing rough pulls for 3 & 4 gears compared to 1 & 2 gear pulls. is that normal? shouldn't it be one nice relatively smooth arc like the earlier gears?

Kori,
That's a cool app.. for 12.99 how could you go wrong ?? If anything once you baseline, and mod and retest you should at least see a relative progressive change that one could document.. I like it.. im gonna get it just because i like gadgets.. to answer you question... what were you using to mount it ?? maybe its a function of the iphone vibrating while doing your run ??

Alex,
I was using my tomtom kit cradle. it was pretty tight. still curious why the hp curve looks the way it does in 3 & 4 gear.

^ yeah the set up asks for weight, drivetrain loss, roll out and few other things. had heard it was accurate but I wasn't expecting to be so dead on. very cool indead

I used 3530 lbs for total combined weight of car and driver and used 15% drivetrain loss plus a 6" rollout.

I am sure all the other ones are just as good. I picked this one up two years ago after evo magazine rave about.

3530 lbs seems awfully high. I was under the impression that BMW's posted weight of ~3380 already includes a 75 kg driver and full tank of fuel. Our 14-gallon tank holds ~84 lbs of fuel. If you weigh 165 and make a run with half a tank, then your curb weight is more like 3330-3340. Am I wrong?
BTW, I use PocketDyno and that has given me readings right in line with published specs on several different cars as well. I have yet to have the chance to test it with my 135.

Just drive over to your local county dump (nee recycling center) and have your car weighed. Problem solved. But yea... ~3,500 lbs seems a bit high to me. |

guys my car weighed in at 3250 with half a tank of fuel sporting my light weight wheels and tires when I had it corner balanced. soooo, add a 100 lbs for the wheels and tires (since I wasn't on track setup) + another 185 lbs for me and you'll get my target weight.

Yea 135s are fat pig compared to a C6 vette. You guys crack me up when you say the car is fat. 3400 lbs is VERY fat, let me tell you......but really, these cars are light.
I know the GTO guys were using the Torque app (for andriod and iPhone/iPad/iTouch I hear) with a cheap bluetooth ODB II and like it very well, but some still perfer the Dashhawk. It'll show speed, coolant temp, IAT, knock, etc. and you can import it to Google Earth. I'm not sure which I'm going to get, maybe a dashhawk but its still cool how they are making things like this for vehicles so you can kinda get a "feel" for what you're vehicle can do. |

In any case, if that's true, then I'm a bit disappointed the advertised specs are without driver. Oh well. Also, I doubt your lightweight wheels account for 100 lbs. I mean, even if they are as light as 15 lbs each, you aren't going to eliminate 25 lbs per corner (meaning the originals are 40 lbs each, which I'm certain they aren't). And, Vigilante .... I do consider this a porker, frankly, considering my previous GTI was a couple hundred pounds less while offering TONS more space inside. I chose the 1 over the 3 just to save some weight. BMW really needs to start shaving the pounds across the board. Hell, even Chevy, the king of obese, has worked hard on the ATS to keep weight down, so I'm sure it will be no problem for BMW.

135s curb weight is around 3350lbs or so depending on the transmission without a driver. So by your analogy, 3350 is light while 3400lbs is very fat. |

My 06 GTO weighed ~3850lb with me in it so I know what a fat car is.
135i curb weigh is 3373 lb (manual), from I see on the internet. I haven't weighed mine yet, so I will see that once I weigh mine. And my analogy was sarcastic about 3400 lbs is very fat. These cars aren't fat, just well rounded. Yes they do need to lose 200lbs at least and have a bit more weight in the rear. |
