Dissapointed in BMW... (Tint related)
Well I had been struggling over finding a place to do my tint for a while, mainly because I don't trust most of the places around here with my car. So I decided to pay the outrageous price at BMW(250$) and have some piece of mind. They are only open during the week days so I had to wait till my winter break from work and get it done.
So when I finally got the car back it had a small bubble in the driver window and they told me after it is in the sun for a while it will go away, I was in a hurry so I didn't have time to bitch about it more. Anyways a few days pass the bubble is still there and the window makes a scraping noise every time I open it.. not only that I noticed a few other deformities in the back windows.. Now I have to bring it in and get a Loaner, and I'm not sure how it is at other dealerships but my last loaner was a Chrysler 300, and the other cars were chevys.. really not looking forward to having to go into work late and drive some POS around for a day or 2.... Anyways that's the end of my rant, just not what I expected from bmw.. |

the dealer doesn't do the tint.
they get some guy to come with computer cut film and install it the parking lot. mark you up 100 to 150% and send you on way.

Wish I had known you were looking for tint. I've got a guy in Largo at Window Kote that does an awesome job. I got Llumar ATX 30% done for a good deal and it looks perfect.
Sorry about your luck though, hope all gets resolved |

Always go 3rd party for tint.
I'll also elaborate... it only takes about 2-3 hours at most to tint our cars. Find a place that will do it on a weekend and stand there with them as they work on it. You don't need a loaner or a high price tag for this type of operation.

Dude never go to the dealer for tint!! If you're worried about your car while it's being tinted(like myself) just wait while the work is being done. Yeah its boring but they usually have wifi or magazines nearby to keep you busy plus you can check on it every 15 mins or so.

Always go with a recommendation. Once you find a good guy, attach a tracking device to his ankle and keep him on speed dial for the rest of your life.
My guy does Ferraris, Range Rovers, Lambos, etc. He costs double the average carwash tint place, but he does housecalls and takes his time to get it perfect. Not to mention, a third party guy will put on any tint you want, legal or not. Most dealerships will do shoddy work and stick you with some weak tints.

Yeah I regret my decision to go with the dealership.. I mean it looks good other than the few spots...
If they don't fix it to my satisfaction can I have them remove it and give me my money back? It is under warranty, so im guessing they would try to fix it endlessly.. |

Hey, I am in Tampa too.. I am currently awaiting delivery of my 128i. Just out of curiosity, which BMW dealership is it? Reeves? I am dealing with Ferman in clearwater, but I don't plan on having the dealer tint it. I know a guy out of palm harbor that does all my cars, never had a problem. Let me know if you want their contact info.
Good Luck. |
