Kylefoundry's 135i Build Journal
*** 6/14/13 Update ***
The car is now FBO, currently on a hiatus till funds are available for a complete suspension overhaul. Check the parts list below! ******************* I am extremely happy to say that I finally picked up a 135i last week. Found a great deal on a 2010 in the burbs and had to pull the trigger. I'll try to keep this thread as up to date as possible, but I apologize ahead of time if I disappear from time to time. The car will mostly be used for fun and weekend trips, and eventually some autox and possible tracking. The plan is to get her pushing 400hp by mid summer The ever growing list: Performance --------- - Cobb AccessPort Tune - ETS Intake - BMS 3" Performance Downpipes - ARK Performance DT-S Exhaust - ETS Charge Pipe + Synapse BOV - BMS Oil Catch Can - Cobb FMIC Interior --------- - P3 Cars Vent Integrated Digital Gauge - MotiveMods M Shifter Retrofit Kit w/ manual boot - bmwpedals.com Black Pedal Set Exterior --------- - SV Concepts Matte Black Kidney Grills - Amber-gone laminates for headlights - Burger 12mm (front) & 15mm (rear) wheel spacers - Smoked LED Side Markers - Matte black badge letters Custom & Misc. --------- - Powdercoated Wheels (Satin Black) - BMS Downpipe Fix Photo update 4/21/2013 Last edited by cakeater; 06-14-2013 at 08:20 PM.. |

Hi there. Welcome. Clean looking 1 good find. Sorry about your bad weather. My family's from Illinois also the Rockford area so I know how you feel and I lived in north Dakota a few years. Hated always having to switch to snow tires. Now where I live the coldest it gets is 40s and it dosent snow thank god. Never going back to that weather.

The first mods went on the car today. I ordered a few things last week and the first to come in was the Cobb AP and the BMWPedals black pedal set. Extremely happy with both. The Cobb brought out some serious power as was expected, and the pedals just make me feel a lot happier every time I hop in the car. Surprisingly enough the pedals even make driving the car more enjoyable. My feet grip well now and since they are metal things feel much more precise. I would definitely recommend them to anyone in the market for some good aftermarket pedals (bmwpedals.com).
The P3 vent guage and ETS intake should be here mid week. Will post as soon as they are installed! |

Just installed my P3 vent gauge and am extremely happy with how beautiful it is!
I was so in the mood to make the interior bangin' after installing the P3 gauge that I immediately came inside and pulled the trigger on a MotiveMods M Shifter Retrofit Kit with the manual shift boot option. The Steptronic shifter has always erked me so I am really stoked when I came across that option. http://www.motivemods.com/BMWRetrofi...mm-sst-m10.htm Pictures of the latest goodies coming soon! |

A bunch more goodies showed up this week. I had some extra time so I went ahead and installed the ETS intake and the matte black grills. I may also install the turn signal laminates tomorrow if I get bored!
Coming in next week are BMS downpipes and the MotiveMods M5 shifter/boot kit. I am loving the ETS intake, if anything just for the much better sounds coming from the engine bay. It looks mighty sexy too. I love the staggered look. I did notice some slightly better throttle response though! |

The Burger 3" catless downpipes came in today. I am really impressed by the quality considering the price. (Though honestly, I wish they came in a heat coating option). I will also be dropping the car off on Thursday to get the 261's painted satin black Making moves. |

I received the MotiveMods M5 shifter retrofit kit today and couldn't wait to get it into the car immediately. Install took literally 5 minutes. Much easier than I had originally thought. Literally pop off, plug in, pop on, boom, done.
It really cleans up the interior a ton. The stock steptronic knob looks like something from a cheap minivan, this thing looks like it belongs in a race car. Shifting is more enjoyable too since it sits much lower. Actually, this might be my favorite interior mod ever. And a shout out to MotiveMods for a quality product and great support Aaaaaand, downpipes should be getting installed tomorrow if they have time. |

Thanks guys.
Burger downpipes were installed Friday. Pure pleasure to the ears, and almost zero turbo lag now 12mm and 15mm wheels spacers will be in Tuesday. Also swapping interior trim with another member here so I can wrap in 3M 1080 carbon fiber vinyl. That should be my project while the car is away getting wheels painted. Next mod, powder coating wheels black. After that, either Meisterschaft GT cat-back exhaust or Stett Chargpipe... depends on if I can get a good deal for the exhaust from a guy here locally or not. Less than a month in and already very close to FBO. |

Uhhhh, so, I got bored earlier and decided to rip out my back seats. I plan to polish it up a bit with custom panels to cover the seat bottom and the seat back, as well as wrap the seat sides that cover some of the ugly electronics so they aren't white anymore. Just ordered some black trunk liner material to do so.
BUT DAMN those back seats are heavy. 55 pounds including floor mats (weighed on my bathroom scale, hah). Its definitely a lot louder inside the cabin now, but I kinda like it. I can really hear that exhaust note now Last edited by cakeater; 02-17-2013 at 12:32 AM.. |
