Some punk scratched a big X on my hood today.

No pics but I'm just completely dumbfounded why someone would do this to my car. I keep it super clean and always park far away. I worked hard to save and get my first bimmer only to have some jealous idiot ruin my day.

It's completely stock and not flashy at all.

Damn, that really sucks. I wish it was legal do to the same to his face if you ever catch him. It's hard to keep faith in humanity when you are a victim of such an hateful crime, but you will have to get over it, it's only metal. It's pointless to rage about those lowlife scums you will only loose energy. It's one of those "life is a bitch" moment, but it always could be worst, you are healthy, I hope for you. I sleep much better when I know my baby is locked and inside. Good luck with the insurance, if you choose to claim, some would say you'd be better not telling them. That's one of my greatest fear of owning a new car, the day it's no longer pristine.

San Francisco. That does the trick.

It's the battle between the Progressive poor hippies, and the Progressive rich fatcats. The hippies and other poor people hate the rich, so they destroy their cars. Only problem is that the poor and the rich are on the same side.

Last time I was in Key West, I got keyed. Lots of hippies there as well.

Totally feel for ya! Totally sucks. $600 here to repaint, so probably $1000 over there in SF. Not fair at all to you.

As for insurance, so long as it is under $1,500, they won't raise your rates. That rate is basically a "universally agreed" rate amongst the various companies. So maybe you should go ahead. Well, deductible hits of course.

Good luck.

only a dickless piece of shit would fuck with another man's car. That is totally cowardly and disgusting... I'd like to believe there is a special place in hell for walking excrement such as that. There is not excuse for this. Sorry for your car man, that sucks.

I swear if I ever caught someone doing that to anyone's car I would probably go berzerk and hospitalize them, that is just so wrong.

Not saying I'm siding with whoever did it, but did you do anything provocative to piss that person off? Cutting in traffic, parking badly, etc...

Not at all. I never block or park in a way that interferes with others. I always park parallel curb side to avoid door dings. Most people never have to park close to me. It's always the furthest safe spots, paid garage parking, or rooftop lots away from the general public.

My car just draws attention when it's clean.

I guess we all have a little bit of the "Park as far away from other as possible" syndrome

Sorry to hear about that man Would your insurance cover some of the repair? Also, are there security cameras around the area? You might want to file a vandalism report with the popo...

UPDATE!

So I took a close look at the scratch. It's more of a hard SCUFF. Looks like whatever they used was not hard enough to penetrate the clear coat.

It seems as if they used something made of plastic or rubber based.
I had a clean microfiber and was able to buff out most of the X. Only blemishes remain are smaller scratches that I think will buff out completely with a medium to fine polish.

I should be able to fix this. This is still infuriating.

Porter cable random orbital with a polishing pad and a light/medium polish will do the trick as long as they didn't get through the clear. If you can't feel the scratch with your finger nail you're ok.

I'm really glad to hear that your car isn't scratched up too badly. The disregard some people have for others property is always infuriating.

Gotta say though, not at all surprised it was the "hippies" that did this. They may seem like harmless lethargic pot head types but they're really all a bunch of extreme criminals hell bent on setting you straight for having a job and making a little money. I suggest you keep your head on a swivel becuase next time it might not be the car they try and x out.

In Germany there is this VERY same thing. Have's vs the Have Not's.

But the disgruntled Germans "do things" differently. The "have nots" do not key your car... they SET FIRE TO IT!!!!!! In Berlin and other large cities... there are at times only Porsches, BMW's and Audi's and MB targetes in the same two block area. Typically they will set fire to fourty pr fifty cars on the streets. Terrible thing.

Given the choice... I think I would chose fire vs a car key! I feel your pain man.
