Look at some of the pictures posted. Black is a great contrast on the AW, especially with the black diffuser and black mirror caps. I'd go black.

I agree on the black. I have black on my AW and i think the contrast is amazing, plus it matches the black mirror caps and gloss black grill. I have had my spoiler installed for 7 months now and i have had zero issues with it. I used the tape that was provided with the item and spent over a half hour getting the tape on all of the edges and corners it has withstood every thing.

Great deal for 88 bucks shipped and painted.

Guys. I'm the OP of this thread and it has now been a year since the install of the $88 spoiler. It has held up great. Paint is still perfect and the fit hasn't budged. Friends I let know about the cost can't believe it, the color is and remains spot on. No peeling color change -- nothing. All in all this is a great deal. Yes there have been a few bad reviews but if you look at the overall response of 99% of the purchases they at positive. I for one am extremely happy with the purchase

E$88 Failure

I rolled the dice and came up snake-eyes fitting it to a convertible. Here's my experience in easy bullet form:
  • So dry-fitting the spoiler, it was clear that there were going to be fitment issues, however it was tough to discern what they were since you are working in 3 dimensions
  • I scratched the paint dry-fitting the spoiler despite a good amount of detail spray
  • There wasn't enough tape to fully fill the back of the spoiler, but I was able to fully outline it.
  • I heated up the spoiler pretty good with a heat gun (Porter Cable), but I never felt like it got all that flexible.
  • After fitting it & pressing it down, I saw the curves and where it needed to be bent. I'm a novice at this, but I'm pretty confident you'd have to have a high skill level working with ill-fitting body parts to make this work on the convertible.

Overall, I'm not mad, just a little disappointed that it didn't work out for me. The good thing is that this confirms that the E88 does need something back there to make it look good. I thought it looked incomplete without it. I guess I'll look for other options or pay out the a$$ for the OEM BMW spoiler.

If anyone wants it let me know.

Did you ever get it installed? I have the same color, and I'm debating between carbon fiber or matching dsb.

Get it in DSB!!

Fit ment was spot on and the color matched spoiler just makes it look amazing. CF is played and looks cheap because it's not the real deal.

You think CF is played? IMHO it's a trend and will look dated in 5 years.

I don't remember exactly how long but it was relatively fast. I live in NY and it was less than two weeks for sure.

Got mine today. The car originally had a carbon fiber one (not sure if it is from this company or not) that was faded to fuck and back and put on with a butter knife (plenty of gashes to the paint). Looked into getting it resprayed and I'd be without a car for a few days and both places I went to said it would be wise to blend the two rear quarters so it would be about $1500. Got the old spoiler off, took it to a detailer to do what he could to get all of the crap the other owner did, and put the new one on this morning. Pollen is nuts today in Dallas, but I think it looks pretty good. Fits well and almost covers all of the damage from the previous owner.

Just ordered mine in black sapphire metallic (BMW color code 475). Same seller, emotors2000. I'll post some photos once I install it.

This spoiler is now selling for $93 instead of $88.

It is listed as:
1-SERIES PAINTED ABS BMW E82 PERFORMANCE REAR TRUNK SPOILER 2013 128i 135i Ω

I bought this one;

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/161293813332?...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Overall I'm thrilled with it. The paint and ship time was very quick and the fit and finish was great as well. I could have saved a couple more bucks from what I'm reading here, but overall I'm still pleased.

There's a sort of all-purpose one for sale at $93 here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-SERIES-PAI...0bdf38&vxp=mtr

If you look at the buying instructions ~2/3 of the way down the page, you'll see they ask you to "note the color code detail in paypal receipt notes.box."

And then under that line, you'll see them list the various color codes, including the one for Alpine White.

So... I had both a good and not-so good experience.

The good:
  • Like others, it arrived from emotors2000 very promptly
  • Very well packaged
  • Fit and finish was excellent

However, the color match (A51 Montego Blue) wasn't perfect:
  • It's a touch darker than the paint on the car
  • At a casual glance, you wouldn't notice it
  • But if you're looking for it, you'll see it

Honestly for the price, and knowing the challenge of remote paint matching, I'm okay with the results. But I wanted to flag this, just so people have the right expectations - usually it's spot on (as many have reported), but sometimes it's not a perfect color match (mine).

I think if I was doing this again I'd get a contrasting color like gloss black.

Attached are a few picks of the install. A few things to note:
  • I decided to run the 3M tape out to almost the very ends, about 5 mm short (5th picture). This results in a small raised height (6th picture). But in practice it's not noticeable and I wanted adhesion all the way out
  • The last two photos were taken before the glue from the original spoiler was removed, so you can see the line of the new spoiler in comparison to the old one.

Karl.
