It's gonna be a loooong spring/early summer for you, my friend
It'll be well worth the wait though!

avonord,

What options did you order?

The wait must be killing you ;-)

It's gonna be a long wait. My old car was totaled by some kid on a small street. Right now I'm driving a crappy corolla. June can't come any quicker.

I ordered the white with black leatherette and m sport pack. No premium. Sunroof doesn't do much for me.

I envy you the sports seats.

I was thinking of getting the sport package just for the seats but I really don't want the sport suspension and lower profile tires. Too many bad roads and pot holes around me.
The slightly softer ride of the standard version seemed better for my tastes. Maybe that's just me getting OLD!

The sport suspension really isn't that bad but I haven't driven the car without so I can't say if the regular suspension is much different. I can't remember for the 128i but on the 135i I seem to remember you could buy the sport seats separately, at least on the 2008-2009 models.

Can't say how much, sorry. But I am happy with the deal. Le mans blue is nice! I actually was hoping white with red leather, but didn't want to spend the money...

Looks like it didn't take much to total the car.

It's an 'upgrade' opportunity :-)

Lol. My friend was laughing at me for looking on the BMW web site the night after my car was totaled.

But seriously, I do like that car. It's very practical city commuter. The 128i for sure will be more fun though.

Btw, I had a rx8 before that. Anyone know how the 128i compares? (no, I haven't even done a test drive on the bimmer! Lol)

Which Golf 'WAS' that?

I (my wife) have the GTI. I do like the new golf GTI with DCT style trans.
I keep thinking I could save about 10K if I got the GTI instead.
Then I get in my 325 and realize why I like BMW's so much. Hard to describe but we all know the feeling :-)

She was an 08 GTI with full oem body and lowering kit. Did I say I love that car? Funny thing.. Never drove a BMW actually.

There is no going back after sampling the BMW handling and feel.

I had one of the last VR6 GTIs a while back. I liked the car alot but going back to a 325 was like 'coming home' :-)

I come from an 07 Gti. The BMW feels a lot more upscale, it's night and day really. But, honestly the high speed handling was better on the Gti, go figure. Probably the suspension.

Really? The stock suspension on the GTI was very soft. It was better with the oem lowering springs but still a far cry from the handling of my rx8.

Anyway... Hopefully the m sport suspension will fix that...

I drove an RX8 at Skip Barber's school last Sept. Even-though it was thoroughly "enjoyed", it still handled well, drove well, lots of pickup, really fun to throw around a skidpad. Still, it was nothing like a 128i, IMO...

^ that's a driving school.

I still have my '05 RX8 - nothing handles like it IMO, and I love the rotary, but the N/A inline 6 is also one of those engines with great character. You'll love the economy of the 128i vs. the 8 - that's for sure. The GTI is softer compared to either car - hey, in a way the 128i is likely what you'd get if the GTI and RX8 somehow mated...with two fewer doors

Congrats, you'll love the 128.
