N55 JB4 Stage 2 Map 7 w/ E85
Anyone running Map 7 w/ E85 on their N55 motor?
I found E85 at a bunch of local gas stations and just wondering if people have good luck with it. I heard people typically mix it with 93. I also heard that you can have issues with your fuel pump/seals. Why is this?

People say it can dry out the lubricant on seals and make them crack.. Personally I have had no problems with e85, and have been using it with non flex-fuel cars for a while now.

Thanks for the reply. People also claimed that methanol would dry out seals as well, but there has been no evidence of that either.

Just found out there is a Map 5 autotune for the N55 w/ updated HEX file where you can run 20% E85. I'm going to get the E85 wiring so I can run higher amounts of E85.

I run 4 gallons on a full tank of 93 with map 7. My dyno pulls are on that setup, without the e85 wires.

I guess with the e85 wire you can run a higher concentration and make more power. I'm assuming it isn't safe to run without the wires?

That would be overkill I think...
Or maybe not... The meth is cooling the air down going into the cylinders The E85 is going to provide a more complete burn Both will allow to run higher boost safely ... hmmmmmmmmmmmm This may be the trick to getting the N55 over the 400hp hump

EDIT: just want to be clear you CAN run e85 without the wires, however you should really log it and send to BMS to verify timing and trims before going hog wild. I traded 15-20 emails with Terry making sure I was OK and even map 7 is usable. Quote:

I am going to order my meth kit and see if I can be first over 400. My car runs well now and I think I can do it with meth & e85

I have the meth kit, but I'm having electrical issues with the control box. I was trouble shooting them with Terry until I uninstalled the system to get an oil change.
I ordered the E85 wires today.

I also don't know how much E85 + Meth would help since Terry said the little turbo basically runs out of air at that 390-395whp mark. Also doesn't help that DCT starts to slip at 450+ wtq. |

I think it can happen, full additive 100% meth and MS109 if necessary

DCT slip is not proven.

Hopefully someone makes upgraded clutches for us. The E92 M3 uses the same clutch pack I believe, but they never had issues, because the S65 doesn't produce as much torque as the N55.

There is certainly a market based on the users, but I am guessing DCT is a more complex tranny that will require more R&D and probably more $$.
I can't speak to DCT slip--only person I have seen say anything is Terry.

Just found this... apparently it works on our cars too, but comes at a hefty price tag... I would do an LSD before I did this...
DCT clutch upgrade that can handle up to 600 whp http://www.***********.com/showthrea...grade-2-199-00

I ran 6 gallons of e98 and the rest 93 (full tank) on map 5 car pull strong I saw peak at 21.5 psi and drop steady at 16 all the way to red line. Never dyno but my butt dyno tell me it way quicker than my map 2 with 93.

Ummm... it's impossible for boost on the N55 to go past 18 psi...
