I don't understand the hesitation thing.OK, never 'owned' an auto box in my entire life but driven 540/545is with autoboxes.
Ever driven a BMW diesel(like 330d/320d/120d)? THAT's what I call hesitation(turbolag, almost gone in the 535d) So yes please be more specific |

well all I know it took 2 hours to the uploads to the car. I was told there are now several - the car has more "kohones" now.
I really like my car now from this morning... BMW is working on a major update for the tranny now...but this fix made it more tolerable. oh - DRL are now available |

Any detail would be appreciated. Did they say when the major update will be available? I admit I'm a novice, what was the fix that made the situation better. I would like to be as specific as possible when I bring my car to the dealer to fix the slow acceleration. |

they updated the computers...they were non specific...the car does run better, but not 100%. What I do know is that this is a 6 speed trans and the car starts in a lower than normal gear...It is worth the update to get this done. HINT: Don't let your dealer tell you to wait for the next update...do it now, it's worth it. the next update they said as soon as completed....30-60 days |

Slow acceleration? I currently drive an 02 330i Steptronic and have no such problem. Or maybe I just have that heavy foot, which this car needs. It will actually pin you to the seat on take off. I joke with my friends and tell them while sitting in the passenger seat if they can grab the money off the dash, its theirs. Please tell me that this problem is not the case with all e90 autos, as my new one is on order.

It would be great to know what is the latest software version, also it would be nice to update the car wireless or with a lan cable, with any windows computer or mac, this way we could update our cars without going to the dealer.
I am sure that this kind of things would be possible in the near future, it would be great to boost performance with a single software update. |

I am wondering what cars needs to get the update done. My car is on the ship now, don't know if they have the updated version before building my car, or after. How can we find out the latest version on our cars??

Most of the 528i vehicles I have driven have this hesitation. Almost like it is tricking you that it wants to stall, then it's like "gotcha". One was absolutely not tolerable it was so bad. From what I read in other forums with regard to the 5, it was most likely faulty VANOS, which is fairly common. Many people don't even know that they are faulty.

My car ('06 330i) seems to have a little hesitation, and starts in 1st gear and then shifts to second almost immediately so it always "lurches" at about 10MPH when you first start off. I thought this was just a BMW thing since I've never owned one before. I guess maybe I should consider getting the software updated.
Does anyone know of a way to go into I-drive or whatever and see what software version the car has? There is no "Help -> About" selection on the menu bar. Other than that, I love the car. -Dave C. '06 330i |

Good to hear that a software update will take care of some of the hesitation people were talking about. RachelS might not know exactly what her dealer did so she probably can't tell us very specifically? But maybe all the dealers already know about the hesitation complaints and will know about a software update if you call?
