Advice on LSD, it is worth it?

Hi guys,

I am a bit bored thinking of adding something to the car. I am thinking of installing a LSD to the car. Just wondering how much of a difference does it make? i mean i only use the car to and from work sometimes. It is worth it even for everyday use?

Cheers

I contemplated the idea of an LSD as well... But unless your hitting the track, you aren't really going to push the limits of the car for you to require the aid of an LSD.

If you don't break traction during your commute to work, or you won't be doing any track work or skidpan days, then an LSD is probably not worth it. For a 130i, you're probably looking around $1700 for a Quaife incl. fitting.

not for how you use your car. if you're bored there are a bunch of ways I could think of spending almost $2k that will cheer you up. most of them are even legal.

Upgrade your sound system, you'll get much more use out of that on your way to and from. Or a bigger intercooler for stop go traffic in summer. Or a contribution to the "gazz 1M restoration fund".

Vote #1 Gazz Rebuild Fund :-p

But seriously... as all have said, an LSD would be pretty wasted if you don't track your car.

That's actually sounds like amazing value to me.

I've never owned a performance car without a LSD or Full Spool.

Maybe I have just been spoiled but for me it would be a 'Must Have'.

Welcome to the world of new age marketing.

Where we are constantly being charged more and given less and told we don't need it, in order to inflate the manufacturers Bottom Line.

I just had my Quaife installed yesterday. Ya know that loss of traction light when you accelerate through bumps...?? Yep, that's gone now! I can't wait to test this from a dig and through back roads

I have a Wavetrac. It's kind of necessary for track, but I would never say it's worth the price.

For street only, I can't even promise that you'd like the difference. Some people don't.

Quaife is definitely the best IMO. It doesn't clunk unlike the Wavetrac. Mine was $3k for the final drive with the $1000 refundable core....so under $2500 for installation.

The secret is to get $100 cash out each time you get the groceries + a few $50-$100 ATM withdrawals a week... in no time at all you have a hidden $5k stash
