I have 2 Opels (Calibra and Astra) also from Germany and on that particular car forum, many have had this same issue of the underbonnet lining/insulation missing from some and not on others Lucky for me it wasn't missing on either one, some people actually like the fact it's not there, because they think the extra heat retained by it is not a good thing :iono: personally I like the sound proofing it provides and if it's meant to be there and your paying for it, then it should be included. Some of these Euro manufacturers need top get their act together and provide the vehicles complete with everything that's supposed to be there, especially brands like BMW whos vehicles are at premium costs to buy |

120d - has insulation, 125i, and 135i no insulation. Remember I had Dunlop runflats on the 135i and Bridgestone on the 125i.

This would have to be one of the most inconsistent hit and miss part on the 1er with no real answer why..
There have been polls on the other 1er forums since mid 08, and the results were allways inconclusive.. |

Sounds like the later builds don't have insulation.

Why would you want sound insulation on the 135 anyway?

i don't have the insulation, and one thing i noticed is that when it rains i often see steam coming off my bonnet when i'm stopped at traffic lights... it's a little concerning. Preservation of the bonnet paint is probably the only one reason why i'd want to have the insulation.
