Everything dusts, even cool carbons. But they do dust much less that's for sure. If you don't drive a good 10 mins after a wash they will stick to the rotor face and as you back out of the driveway *CLUNK* as they unstick. Ask me how I know Not a CC only thing though but OEM never did that.
Pete

maybe try some nano coating on your wheels (I use nanolex which produces a slick surface where the bulk of the brake dust can be hosed off)
I have tried ceramic pads in the past, and they didn't feel as good as conventional pads for brake modulation in a DD imo. |

Cool Carbons are great street pads but yeah, definitely need drying off after washing as Pete said and also not good at the track,

I have hawk ceramics a lot less dusty than oem. You loose the initial bite of the pad but they are very linear in brake feel which I much prefer to have & no *clunk* as they unstick

Ok this is abit of a blasphemy but 135i front brakes can use Bendix General CT's.
DEFINITELY wouldn't use them on track, but for around town it was fine. Seemed to stop ok and lower dust, but not no dust. (had this on the 130i) |

You may be able to stroll in and ask to purchase. I remember in my nissan s15, my mom (yes I'm serious LOL) had an acquaintance that worked at the factory there and she simply went in and ordered a full set of EBC greens and slotted rotors for a ridiculously cheap price! They don't dust too much and bite hard so would definitely recommend greens. EDIT: Oops sorry - only relevant for melb people but interstate may be able to order directly from them? Interesting thread... the girlfriend has been complaining about the brake dust on her mk6 Golf. Same issue as with our OEM BMW pads.
For those that have had experience with the following, how do the EBC Green and Hawk Ceramic compare wrt initial bite, dust and noise? Rear pads on her car will need doing soon. Only city trips for her. It would be great to try one these.

I had EBC Greens on my VW GTI many years ago, brake dust was cut by half and the EBC dust was lighter in colour compared to the OE pads which helped matters. However I did prefer the initial bite from the OE pads, they felt plusher, just like our OE BMW pads.

I tried EBC Green and Red on my smart. The Red seemed to dust less, a little less initial bite (which I much prefered), and stopped very well. Held up to a couple track days, but that car was so slow, not really surprised about that.
Another advantage of using "ceramic" compound pads is that the dust is a light grey instead of black. Good for OEM rims, not so good if you have black rims. |

I don't know what brand ceramic pads were installed at my last BMTS (Brendale, Brisbane) ervice, but I can tell you that the amount of dust is virtually nil, and my wheels always look like they've just been washed. They also stop the car just fine. Give BMTS a call and ask them.
