Do you think BMW would buy back my car?

I have had a 325i for about two months now. The car has spent about half of its life in my garage and the other half (a little over three weeks) at the dealership.

At times, the car fails to start. I have to wait for a few hours or a night for it to work again. So I took it to the dealership. They said it was fine and told me to stop wasting their time. Then once the car failed to start on that very same day, I made them take it.

Three weeks, which were full of unreturned calls, passed, and I finally have my car back. When I picked it up, they failed to clean the car and left it a mess. Leaves and oily shoe prints-- both could be found in the car's interior. I didn't feel like dealing with BMW because they are worthless, so I just left. They also had to replace a number of parts, which makes me feel like it is no longer a new car.

So do you guys think I can get my money back?

PS. the car is really fun to drive, but the rattles piss me off

As others have stated, you won't get your money back. It sounds to me like you need to do a couple of things. First, if you can't tell from your RO, (Repair Order), find out from your dealer exactly what parts they replaced and otherwise what repairs or adjustments were made to your vehicle. Next, find a dealer that is interested in your business. Shop around and interview them. I know it sounds nuts, and maybe it is, but I would at least try.

I feel your pain with regards to the leaves, etc. left in your car. My car was less than clean when I got mine back from a day at my dealer for an alarm installation. It hurts, but you'll get over it. Time heals everything.

BMW is not “worthless.” They did not become the world’s "Ultimate Driving Machine" by being such. It sounds like you may have just had a bad experience with some bad employees. Again, I know how you feel. But as others have pointed out in other threads, these service writers and mechanics and such are just human beings. They work on our precious vehicles day in a day out, week after week and year after year. It's just a job for (most of) them. To us our Bimmers are our pride and joy, to them it's just another job.

Take it easy bro. As I stated above, time heals everything. Trust me, this too shall pass.

If you have another dealership nearby, you might take it over there. I find it hard to believe that a new car has trouble starting, have you tried changing remotes?

Wow, someone actually does have a mystic blue car stateside.

I smell bullshit.

You honestly took your car into service because it wouldn't start and they actually said "stop wasting our time?"

I've heard of some really snotty dealerships, but I've never heard of one outright dismissing a customer with a problem a blatent as a vehicle not starting. At the very least, this would get them to throw the vehicle on the computer and take a look at any diagnostics fault codes.

Also, 3 weeks is a hugely long time. You would have gotten an RO stating exactly what the dealership did and they would have justified having the car for that long. In fact, that is long enough that we're in lemon law territory for some states.

Sorry, but this whole thing doesn't pass the sniff test- there is another side to this story...

Hmmm....why would you take it back with oil stains on the carpet of your new E90??? I would have pointed it out right then...

It will be difficult to have them address your concerns if you do not clearly document what is happening and when....now, they may say you put then stains there.

Well...sorry to hear that your car is not running correctly, but as others have stated...look into lemon law if it continues.

Sorry to hear that, so unfortunate, I thought the lemon law was inacted for this purpose solely. It also depends on your state so you really need to look up your state lemon law and file whatever paperwork necessary, I would due everything in my power before I quit. Even if not much is changed, at least you know you did all you could to make things better, good luck.

No. i don't think they'll buy it back. while we understand the amount of stress you have to deal with, tell us more details about it without any exaggeration(if there was any).

If the problem with your vehicle is as serious as you stated(not starting??? perhaps ignition) and the dealership don't do jack about it, call BMW NA and complain.

They don't just replace cars. Even when things are seriously wrong with it. To BMW the excuse that parts have been replaced, so it is no longer a new car doesn't hold...to them - as long as it has been repaired to BMW specifications, then the car is as good as new.

Call BMW NA and talk to them. They don't like to hear when a Dealership fucks with owners.

They had your brand new car car 3 weeks ..?

Did they come to your house and pick it up when it wouldn't start ..?

Did you have a loaner all that time ...?

Didn't you sign a paper when you picked your car back up. THAT paper should have all the warrenty work done on your car !!

BMW will make it right, you might be dealing with the wrong dealer, btw whats the dealerships name ...?

The answer I am afraid is as simple as NO!

At best they will do all they can to fix the problem.

I mean you dont get your money back from the bank if you bought a house and the wind blows your one wall over. The contracters have to fix it.

Sorry to hear about your misfortunes.

I guess it wasn't that big of a deal. I was just kind of angry and felt like ranting. I didn't exagerate anything though. They really had my new car for a little over three weeks.

Previously, the car would start sometimes, and other times it wouldn't. It was an on and off problem. The dealership was fine before that. They gave me a really good deal and seemed like nice people.

I don't really understand why somebody would say this is bullshit?

Thank you for listening. Just kind of had to get it off my chest.

Try negotiating a BMW official Collateral Buyback. You need to involve the Head Service Manager, your SA, BMWNA and sometimes the owner of the dealer. I bought a brand new 2004 330cic, and it was a mess after like 6 months. Constantly at the dealership for electronic problems and rattles galore. BMWNA and the dealer took my car back, and offered me any car/model that had the same or greater MSRP (of course you have to pay the difference if the new car costs more than the bad, old car). I got another 2004 330cic, without paying a dime. They even kept my same BMW lease/finance account number, they just changed the VIN#on my account.

BMW was incredible, and has earned my lifetime loyaltly.
