What goes in the compartment beside the battery?

I just bought an '09 135i M sport with:

JB4, remus exhaust, M wheels, DCI, Hotchkis sway bars and tons of carbon fibre.

I'm absolutely over the moon impressed with the performance, handling, design and build quality of this little car.

When I took it for a test drive the first thing that went through my head was "where have you been all my life". Then I started thinking that this car is so good its destined become a collectible classic. Unfortunately the came with only the stuff attached to it. Everything else was missing ie: tool kit, manuals, only one key, etc. and I'm trying to get a hold of everything which leads me to my question:

What goes in that shallow flat compartment next to the battery? There is nothing there except two empty brass screw receptacles. I first I thought it was for a jack and the bracket to hold the jack down and then I learned there is no spare. (This is after I spent an embarrassingly long time with a girl under the hood looking for the oil dipstick).

Short answer is nothing. BMW doesn't give you a spare, or a jack kit. You can buy a jack kit, and a mobility kit (compressor and can of slime), and coupled with a Dynaplug kit and pair of pliers, would put you in excellent condition for the eventuality that is ditching the run-flats.

Nothing bolts into those two brass colored empty screw holes, not even a bracket?

Seems like they changed their minds when they were half way done building the trunk floor.

Besides the battery in the deep part of the trunk, only the small tool kit goes there. At least, that's the deal in Canada.

Yeah, I bought my car off the board here and at first thought the original owner pulled some stuff out of that "kit" and didn't put it back. Nope, there's just not much there to begin with. Kind of strange.

Besides the small toolkit, I keep a few paper towels a soft microfiber towel and small bottle of speedshine to clean those unexpected bird attacks.
