I'll be looking forward to the build! Keep us posted!

If you are going after an N54, mind if I ask if you've considered other powerplants?

You need every part on that list I posted plus a 1m rear bumper/diffuser or a custom set up. 135i quad set ups won't match up

The battery tray relocates the evaporation canister to the side to allow room for the exhaust. This relocation requires different evaporation canister hoses and longer battery cables. These items will also need to be purchased to make this mod. You may also have to cut and extend your evaporation canister relay wire.

The 1M exhaust hangers despite not being in the photo diagram are located on the 1M rear bumper carrier.

All OEM parts came out to around $600 USD - Excluding Exhaust Unit and Diffuser.

I hope some of this information answers some of your questions and clears up some of the speculation. I will slowly be posting all of the 135I to 1M conversion information I have accumulated over the past few months.

I can't make a DIY, my car is done. It is all bolt up except one wire needs to be cut and extended.

Thanks so much for putting this together. Two quick questions:

(1) Will the OEM rear (cat-back) M exhaust bolt up to the existing cat-forward piping?
(2) Any differences to consider when dealing with a convertible?

Again…thanks again for taking this on. I'd really like to do this conversion and make it a fully functioning system.

1m uses the same mid pipe as a 135i.

I do not know how compatible everything will be on a vert.

I am in the boat now where you will be if you attempt this without doing a full 1m body conversion I'm the rear... finding a diffuser with the correct spacing..

The exhaust outlets on a 1m are closer together than a 135i with dual exhaust and I have yet to find a diffuser that fits.. has me thinking about hacking up a $3k exhaust to extend the tips out.. ugh.

Correct - the exhaust spacing is quite different.

If you did do as you say, I woul dnot hack the exhaust. I would instead modify a custom diffuser.

A 135i Msport diffuser can be had for cheap and you can cut one up and fiberglass and paint. It wouldnt be a terribly difficult job.

I was thinking of doing exactly this but I have no experience whatsoever fiberglassing.. guess it would be a learning experience haha. Any idea of a site where I can find some tips on the process?

Yeah I was thinking that too. Bring them a diffuser or two and some measurements of center spacing and width for each of the outlet holes. They are probably better prepared to undertake something like that, I live in an apartment..

Nice build by the way.

Highbrowed - If you would…keep me posted on your build! Looks like we're close (geographically speaking) as well.

I've decided to get a custom dual muffler delete with tips from a C6 corvette and a Hartge rear diffuser instead of going through the headache. I now have a full brand new Vorsteiner stainless exhaust system for sale.

Sorry if it's been covered...can anyone confirm that the Y-pipe from the 1M will fit a 135? Aka, the exhaust is the same but for the axle-back portion?

Thanks!

Dang, I wish I could get a 1m akrapovic exhaust to fit on my e92 335i. Something about the way the 1m's exhaust is setup makes it sound sooo good...

its not simply the axelback. the mid section has a lot to do to it as well. I have heard some pretty good sounding e92 335i's.

Yeah, ideally I would want to replicate the full 1m akrapovic exhaust system. I am currently running the 335i evo akrapovic system right now, but it's so much more different than the 1m's.

I know people have searched for a diffuser that will work. And I think I may have found one. Measurements were close to my Seibon 1M diffuser.

Size of openings = Dual 19cm
Distance between openings = 61cm
