Noob question about Adaptive Headlights

Sorry if this is a common thing, I've never had HIDs or adaptive headlights before.

Is it normal for them to shake when you hit bumps? It doesnt matter if its a big bump or small bump, they shake. Is this common with adaptive headlights?

Mine did that too - at first. I suspect the sensors kind of "bind" a little bit when new. I noticed it most when entering my underground garage - when I went from pavement to concrete ramp. Now after 14K kilometers... I don't notice it that much. Every now nd then yes. But not like when the car was brand new.

Btw... I guess you know the adaptive lights only turn when in "auto" mode. When you turn the lights on manually they are in the static straight on position. They never turn.

they're mounted on motors, so they're definitely not stiffly mounted by any means.

Plus there's a height adjuster sensor which adjusts the vertical angle when the car's heavy. Maybe that would add in some play too

They all shake over some hard bumps. Just the fact they are mounted on motors / arms etc, as previously stated...

Yep I always frown whenever it happens(only over hard bumps as above previously stated) but it's not very often. A bigger annoyance to me was the brake dust, but I fixed that.

I feel the same way.
Did not know about the auto/manual difference. I keep it in auto though...

IF you drive on a dark street at low speeds (50kph or less) and do some Zig Zags, left, rights... you can really see the headlights turning as you turn the steering wheel. I also can notice the lights turning left at night when I take the exits/ausgangs - off the Autobahn. I really like the adaptive lights. I am sold on them!

I thought they were an awesome addition to the car. I can really see them moving when I'm slaloming around parked cars in the residential areas. The shaking I can deal with, now that I know its normal. However, I do have to say that the HIDs in the TSX I drove way back when seemed a lot better than the HIDs on this 135i. I dunno, just seemed like the TSX's lights were just brighter.
