Exhaust Note..
Ok.. So yes, from the inside of the car, through tunnels, in car parks, the exhaust sounds amazing. But i'd never heard my own car from outside.
I let a friend who i trust dearly floor the car from standstill on a remote road last night past me so i could hear the exhaust note. I will never wear those jeans again - it was beautiful! However, the cam noise and intake note from the front of the car about 300m away when at full open throttle is nearly disgustingly high pitched and whiney. I actaully don't like it. But the exhaust MORE than makes up for that My friend said "I had some VERY short lived fun" and nearly refused to leave the drivers seat |

I also would really like to be standing on the side of the road to video/listen my car zooming past at 250km/h.

apparently my car makes a big "fwump" noise when i start the engine i've yet to stand outside it while someone else is closer to the steering wheel though...
Tay: have you ever considered an injen intake? wmj73 and janus77 seem quite happy with theirs and i'm thinking of following the same path... |

First thanks for organising yesterday - was fun Janus' sounds great - but I want to go BMW Performance exhaust first, after hearing Joel's yesterday! It's just a case of locating one in Europe/USA and ship it over - any tips from anyone would be great The "Fwump" sound is GREAT. I'm usually parked within about 3 inches of the rear wall on the garage, so on ignition, the car goes nuts I can't possibly imagine what she would sound like with the perf exhaust on..... |

I love the sound of the car starting in the garage. Mine is enclosed and the exhaust sound echoes, the perfect way to start the day.

Heh i have the same situation. I live in a block of apartments, my car's garage is directly below the bedroom of one of the apartments, and since i put on the performance exhaust it is noticably louder for the first 15 seconds when i start. If my neighbors didnt hear it in the past, they definately now have a permanent 6:25am wakeup call when i leave for work

I find the exhaust note improves when then engine is warm IMO. It sounds fuller, lower and less metallic. I like to give it a few revs after a drive in my carport before shutting off.

Note you got your exhaust on. Was it as easy as I said or did you end up getting it done by a third party? Does the exhaust note live up to your expectations? Mine certainly does especially at around 3-3.5K revs. Just love it. |

The exhaust is really, really nice. Very happy with it in all respects. It is loud, but not too loud, and i love that low rumble you hear when you are idling. I am keen to see how it sounds in a few months as you described after it gets a thick coating of carbon. So if anyone needs a performance exhaust fitted see Frank. He'll do it for you after hours (and when the hoist is free), just let me know in advance so i can get you the better rate

I also think the 125i sounds better. Of the times I have turned my head to see what BMW it was that made such a sweet sound when it drove past me I saw that each time it was a 125i! All stock.

Hey Taymaishu, sorry if this has already been answered but where are you buying your Performance Exhaust? Also, are you able to share how much for it + shipping + any extra costs? I'm very keen too.

This is the one i heard from Joel on the weekend. It is absolutely LUSH on the 135, so i imagine the 125 will sound fantastic. I'm trying to get a group buy for the exhaust, but it's pretty good and best thing it's a genuine Perf part. |

Thanks for the information. I thought it was from Dan. I'm sure if we can organise a few buyers he would negotiate a group buy price for us 1addicts down under.

Trademotion IS Dan at United. That's where I got mine. If Dan is sticking to the price of US$800 (ie 880 less 80 because he includes freight in the US) + US$275 for shipping. Landed cost here should be US$1075 or about A$1200.

$1200 isn't a bad price... but i'm inclined to spend that money either on ICE or on my (future) M3 A group buy might bring that down to 1100 or even 1000, but tbh it still wouldn't be in the money for me just yet. I love how my car sounds already
