Lightbulb Need Help: Anyone running 225/40/18 Bridgestone Potenza RE-11 on 8.5x18 et38

Hi guys. I'm going to mount and install my new apex arc-8 along with new tires. The setup for the front is 8.5x18 et38 and 9.5x18 et62 for the rear. My first option is to go with 225/40/18 and 265/35/18 Michelin PSS and quite sure that it doesn't rub since once of forum members run that exact setup with me.

My question is, can I run Potenza RE-11 on that exact setup with no rubs? My car currently is on stock height but the lowest drop will be 0.5" only so it shouldn't be a problem. Anyone running offset below 40 with 225/40/18 RE-11? I'm quite sure that 235/40/18 will rub up front due to aggressive offset and RE-11 runs wider than PSS.

Please help me out guys. Any picture will be really helpful.

Thanks!

You'll be fine.

Why would you run 225/265 though? Talk about massive understeer. Most people are trying to get more to square...

Yeah I know that but I'm not tracking nor autoX that often so it should be fine. Also, have you ever try my setup? Do I need more negative chamber up front?

I'm running a 235/40/18 tire with a et45 apex EC-7 and running a 3mm spacer makes me worry I'm going to hit the front outer corners of the fender. I think the offset of the wheel is much more an issue for you than the width of the tire.

With my Bridgestone S04's I'm damn near touching the strut on the inside and spacing it out is making me worry about the fenders. Right now I'm seeking an aggressive roll to get by without camber plates.

Most of the time you need minimum of 3mm spacer up front with et45 and 235/40/18. Most guys that told you 235/40/18 PSS sits fine is actually right but they just don't check how close it is to the strut.

If I did the calculation right my offset is almost better compared to someone who's running et45 with 5mm spacer and 235/40/18 max or extreme summer tires because even though my setup is 2mm outward but my sidewall will be lower and rounded.

My opinion is just put 3 mm spacer and see how it goes, rolling fender is one of many ways that I'm trying to avoid. Better buy dinan plates that adds about .7 degree

Here is a photo of a 1-series with 235/40/18 NT05 on a 18x8.5" ET38 ARC-8.

We suggest that you pull the alignment pins to maximize negative camber for better fender clearance if you plan to run this tire size, since your wheel is 3mm more aggressive than the wheels shown. With the 225/40/18, you would have a slight stretch and that would provide better fender clearance if you lower the car.

Really appreciate it David. It is really helpful to see from those views. Seeing from that angles, my 225/40/18 should fit better and just inside the fender, right? I think Nitto NT01 also runs wider, I'm not sure though. Thanks!

This car is on koni shocks, stock springs, and alignment pins pulled. There's a chance it has M3 control arms as well, but we don't recall the owner mentioning it.

I ran 235/40/18 265/35/18 RE-11's without issue. Should be fine even with a drop.

What offset setup do you run?

I rub for the first time, it rubs up front with only me on the car while passing an overpass that has a bump. Also on highway, I rub once after passing a bump on a bridge on 70 mph. What is your front camber setup? I'm going to get camber plates
