Anything wrong with this setup? 215/245 on 8" and 9"

This is to be installed on alufelgen CS7's 8x18 et 45 and 9x18 et 48.

I'm looking at 215/40/R18 on the front and 245/35/R18 on the rear, to avoid the rubbing that some people are experiencing with 255 rears.

My car is stock height (sport suspension) at the moment but I am planning on installing the BMW performance suspension at some point.

Would these narrower tires cause the tire shop any issues with installing, or make damage to the rim more likely during installation?

These are the specific tires (ventus V12s)

Nothing wrong with it but should be fine with those tires in a 225/255 size. They don't run as wide as some and have a more rounded shoulder.

At least you can put 225 in the front.

I was wondering about 225 fronts with 245 rears, but when I looked at the specs, the rolling diameter between the two changed by about 80mm. (215s and 245s seem to be identical) I was worried this could confuse the stability control, valid concern or not?

thanks

It's not an issue what so ever.

run 225 front and 245 rear, no rubbing and the car will handle better!

You won't notice any change in DTC. Especially with wider wheels, you should consider wider tires. Changing to the BMW Perf. Suspension will not be as effective unless you have more grip.

Thanks guys, that's great to know on the fronts, I think I'll go with the 225s then.

I'm really having a hard time deciding on the rears. I'd definitely like to go 255 but at least two people here are having slight rub issues at stock ride height, seemingly due to the passenger rear wheel being about 4mm closer to the fender than the driver's side. Checked my stock wheels with a straightedge and my car seems to be the same way.

You can run a 245/255 setup if you wanted to

the 255 may rub over hard bumps, mine did with 255/35/18 on a 9+50 with the BMW perf stuff and eibach springs, it's not really a big deal though.

Go with the 255 v12 and you'll be fine, if you went with an NT05 or AD08 or RS3 etc you'd rub more easily.
