This is pure mental masturbation. No one ACTUALLY has one of these cars "reserved" for them, yet.

I did that. The first time I saw a 135i in person was the day I went to pick it up. It was quite an experience after being on the waitlist for 1 year.

You are making assumptions, and you are wrong.

Your dealer has a default allocation and being #1 on the list guarantees you the first car. Although not in ink it's pretty much in stone. Grats!

Well, who knows what will happen, but I just re-confirmed with my dealer via email, and here's what I got back (well, the part of it that applies to this conversation):

"Hi Kurt!
You are on top of the list!! I will keep you posted."

Well, you can forget all that. The new car is fitted with a turbocharged straight six. Turbocharging? In an M car? That’s like putting gravy on an ice cream.

It is funny that everyone from the US are talking about hard to justify 40-50k. It would be close to 130k when it hits our shores.

Yeh exactly, your poor Australian cousins are more concerned about how close in price will it be to a M3 sedan, so as to help justify the purchase, which is ~$145k plus options. Given our $ is at almost at parity with the US$ nowadays what gives!

Hello...lurker here. Previous E30 owner (sniffle sniffle), proud manual (uh oh, did I say that...) '09 E83 owner now.

I've been waiting for years for something like this to show up. Almost pulled the trigger on a CPO M6, but that was just too porky. It sounds like they've listened up and stripped it back down to basics - less weight, decent powerplant...lots of things to evoke thoughts of an E30M3. When I got wind of this some time back - I called my dealer. This holds great promise.

Currently #1 spot at my dealer! Woohoo!

Thank you Kay Segler.

I am definitely in. I'm #1 on my dealers list. My dealer is pretty small, so I hope they get at least one allocation. I've decided on Valencia Orange unless they end up offering a blue color.

I asked my dealer about European delivery. They said it might be doable but not to expect a discount. Tempting to do it despite the lack of discount in order to spend 1-2 weeks blasting around Europe.

I am so in. the N54 is a fantastic powerplant and adding the M-bits with a mandatory manual transmission makes me happy. I already decided on alpine white to match the e30.

Can you clarify the ED comment Herr? By "discount" do you mean no discount off the ED MSRP? Im closely watching the ED issue myself. My undestanding, if there is a car sold ED, its cheaper than US. MSRP in US$ is about 7% higher than ED MSRP. Now, Ive heard there is room to negotiate off the ED MSRP, but not likely on this car.

My worry is no ED - what a shame that would be. This car was born to be driven through Germany. Mountains, autobahn, the ring? C'mon -they can't deny us that can they?

I would have to talk with the dealership again, but it was my understanding the price would be equivalent to US MSRP.

My dealership indicated they will ask for a more substantial deposit (~$3000) early next year when they start to get more official information regarding allocations and production dates. Maybe they will be able to give solid answer regarding ED at that time.

I have come across the number being 350 in the USA. I can't verify this for a fact, however.

If accurate, then each dealership might expect 1-2 1M Coupes. However, given differences in sales volume, some larger dealerships will probably get 3-5 vehicles whereas others only 1 vehicle.

I think this underscores the importance of getting on a waiting list ASAP.

I am totally, totally going to buy this car and my deposit has been in since early September.

Tell me, has anyone gone to place a deposit and been told that there were 2 or 3 deposits already ahead of them? I do believe that eventually that will be the case...

Charging a customer US MSRP for an ED car sounds highly unethical. It contradicts the whole purpose of the program. I havent done ED before, but Im doing my homework. It appears to be a pain in the ass to organize everything - THEN you have to wait 6-8 weeks to get your car back to the states. Dont get me wrong, Im dying to do it, but having the dealer pocket the difference? Sounds shady, dude. Keep us posted, Herr, on this ED info?

I'll do the same

ED isn't really a pain in the ass to organize....the pain in the ass is the anticipation of getting your car back

I'm in.. I even emailed my dealer to put a $3000 deposit, but he refused because it's not in sale yet and price is not announced and I need to put %25 of the price as deposit if I want to ever put a deposit... But I still gonna buy one and I'm waiting of the release and the price...
