Here's how I came to own this car.....I took my 2007 M Coupe (the Z4-based M) in for it's annual oil service. I loved this car, and had envisioned keeping it for many years to come. The dealer was taking longer than anticpated on the service, and I am wandering around the lot killing time. I come across a used 2011 135i with DCT and Sport Package, and decide to take it for a spin just for fun. I always wanted to fool with a DCT equipped car but never had the chance. All it took was that one test drive, and I was hooked. What a car!

Much more flexible engine than my M Coupe, gobs more torque, more roomy and civilized, not as jarring a ride, and just plain more fun. The 135i does not have the track manners of the M Coupe, not quite as sticky, but it more than makes up for it in every other way.

I struck a deal on a new 2012 the next day, and my old M is now on the showroom floor of the dealer. The 135i is not fully broken in yet, and I am having much trouble keeping it below the recommended 4500rpm. I grin every time I drive it.

Welcome! I actually just picked mine up, 135i DCT black. Already talking to burger about the performance mods, haha. I completely agree with your thoughts on the 135i compared to the M coupe. I was looking at the M coupe for a while, before deciding the 135i was just a better all around package. Maybe I will see you around. Safe travels,
