but thats good for you... There are next to no wait lists for the car... Only CA dealers are trying to get over MSRP... And if you want one now there are dealers that have no waitlist at all and are selling their first one for MSRP...
Alot of people love the E92 and thats great... If everyone had the same opinion as me the world would get very boring

M3 has certainly lost its luster on me, although it is still an impressive machine with good looks. The E46M3 was the gold standard and the untouchable, but assaults from stiff competitions and cannibalism from lesser BMWs (135i and 335i) have chipped away its superiority. If there is a car that stands for what last generation M3 did then that car has to be the new GTR. The new underdog in the battle of David vs. Goliath.

I will be honest in that I have never test driven an M3, but IMHO from a visual standpoint I love the 135i. It shares a few M cues in its bodystyling and in terms of dimensions the car is amazing. I've driven a few mid-size cars in my life and moving into the 1 series I still can't believe how easy it is to park. Another thing is that the 135i attracts more attention. Many people have never seen or even heard of the 1 series so when they see my car in a parking lot they become intrigued. They are amazed to find out such a little car has had such a powerful engine shoehorned into its engine bay. Yeah it might not have electronically adjustable suspension or the option to fit a dual clutch transmission, so it doesn't have an M badge on the outside but that doesn't matter. To me this car (albeit in sport trim) wears its M badge on the inside literally and symbolically. This car handles like a dream and never before in another car have I felt so confident behind the wheel. If anything the little 1 series makes it quite easy to develop a bond between. I'm sure the M3 is a blast, but from a financial standpoint the 1 series is bargain M power without sacrifice minus a badge. Mind you an M Sports package is on the way, so some food for thought I again am admitting I am biased since I didn't personally test drive an M3, but I had a friend who did and though the power impressed him, the feel didn't. But if I were looking for a larger car I would choose the current M3 (possibly in sedan trim) as my next car. PS-In the end I was able to pocket the 30+K in choosing a 135i over a comparably optioned M3.

Here in Mass, it's not even a question of MSRP... they have been sitting at the dealerships collecting some serious dust. When I approach the dealers, their reply to me was "make me a reasonable offer". They would take INVOICE price on them. Too bad, the new M3 has gotten too fat for me. I also am in the market for a 135. But am waiting to see if they would produce the Tii version. Otherwise, I'm going for the 911. Read my thread as to why: http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum....php?t=1115931

Well, a test drive should make up your mind.....
But, if you can swing an M3, I'd go that way. I think its a classier car. Can't beat the sound of a wound up V8.
