The factory holder is quite chunky and too bad it was painted in gloss black, so I decided to do this. I think this is only half to one inch lower than the factory holder, so don't think it should have an effect on the intercooler. I just used some toggle/butterfly screws to attach it to the mesh, no holes drilled anywhere. I have a clear cover on the back of the license plate so it won't scratch the bumper.

Did you reenforce the mesh some how. Where/How did you get the hardware?

Not having front plate in a state that requires it (where enforced) is just too risky. Gives the police a reason to pull you over. CP-E bracket will be the way I go...can't have any holes drilled in the front of this car.

No, the mesh is strong enough. The bracket and license are not that heavy. When you tighten the screws just make sure it's not too tight to crack the plastic mesh. I bought the 1/8 toggle/butterfly screws with some washers from Home Depot. The 3/8 is too big to go through the holes in the mesh. In this way you do not have to take the bumper off to have access to the back of the mesh.

Brilliant, thx. This looks like a good alternative to the tow-hook license plate holders.

Is the license plate holder with base plate and extender arms (as shown in the pictures from the side) also a ready made product? Can you pls share make/link ...?

You can get it at Amazon, or if you are in US you can get it at Autozone. Here is the link:

CPE mount

I got a lot of PM's and finally got off my lazy butt and figured out how to upload photos.

This is what the CPE mount looks like.

The more I look at the CP-E the more I wish the upper edge of the license plate lined up with the upper lip/edge of the bumper. I wonder if the rho-plate or US millworks offerings facilitate that.

Dee Pee, thanks for posting (and sending) the pictures. I replaced my temporary tag with my new license plate yesterday when I got home (and, of course, didn't install the front plate). Got nailed this afternoon on the way home by Texas DPS for no front plate. They have no sense of humor, but I did manage to get away with a warning.

Twice in two different parking lots on two consecutive days. Talk about being lucky.
