I would be surprised to hear that because I haven't heard much in regards to N55 mid pipe users having code issues....

Mate, I fitted N55 mids & no problems or codes. Pull the trigger it's a great mod for the cost, better sound, better power, no drone.

N55 mids will work just fine on a N54. Just ask any N54 1addict! There are no secondary O2 sensors on the secondary cats!! Your dealer doesn't know what they are talking about. They just do not want to rick a EPA fine for tampering. Find another shop or do it yourself. When you go with DP's (downpipes) the reason you get a ECL thrown is that the secondary O2 sensors can "see" that your cats are not working(since you have none now!) and the throw the ECL code as per EPA standard. There are known "fixes" for that.

FWIW, 2C39 and 2C3A codes came up on the P3 on a buddy's 1M at a track day. Only mod was Berk mids. Best I could tell these were referring to "Precat O2 dynamics" ... cleared them and they never came back. No check engine light.

^ your car does use is method, just make sure it is the right pipe whether coupe/ or sedan
By the way, I love it! Had it done yesterday. It's a subtle enough difference to notice and I am very happy with it. It feels more rough/ raw and deep. I'm feeling slightly more vibration beneath me and its awesome. M mode is more crisp as far as the pedal/ throttle response goes, much more direct IMO. Thanks for the help everyone. I woke up and drove around for 2 hours this morning just to listen/ enjoy. The deepness is that good... The popping/ burble sound is even longer and more deep as well... I'll keep going about this but I'd rather not

I'm running an N55 midpipe and the new Dinan exhaust and I am drone free! Car sounds amazing - the way it should have come from the factory. I originally swapped the mid pipe only and it helped with the drone but also made the car feel more responsive to throttle input. A definite mod for our cars!

It shouldnt because you still have cats on your downpipes etc....
I am considering a modified N55 exhaust when I get mine... having a custom shop remove the resonator and replace with straight pipes, appears to still come out cheaper than aftermarket options. |

There should not be any smell or code issues if you keep the stock down pipes.
firechicken99 I advise you to check the relevant posts by Forum member from Chile jprooney or PM him if you wish, since he did something exactly like that, stock muffler with N55 mids and resonator delete. I think his car was described as loud but with drone, I myself did not hear it.

Can you describe the difference in exhaust note between the N55 midpipe vs the N55 midpipe + Dinan exhaust? Thanks, Vivek |
