It is included and it is through BMW Australia. They give you time to learn the car before sending the invitation. Contact them to find out more. You can choose your training venue. I'm going for Philip Island even if I have to wait for it.

I think it would be really good fun for us all to go out there together. Continue the forum banter and all that.

********************************************
I am pleased to announce the first round of our new track day season. As was discussed in emails over the last few months we have redrafted the classes and points (see attached) in an effort to make the classes and points more even and fair. I am sure there are lots of potential faults with it, but in the spirit of compromise I think it keeps the focus on BMWs, and friendly competition without disadvantaging anyone. As always non members are welcome as are non BMWs so please forward this to your friends.

When you are doing your entry please self nominate both the class your car will be in, and your last known lap time so we can put you in the right "speed" group on the day (which is not always based on class).

For further details see: http://www.bmwclubqld.asn.au/Filesto...t-Lakeside.htm

Friday - Sept 2nd. 8.30 am to 4.30pm
Where: Lakeside Raceway, Lakeside Road, Kurwongbah.

Cost: $225 per person, ($195 for BMW Club Qld and BMW Club GC Members)
( AASA licence available on the day at extra cost).

Lunch: Included

Instruction. There will be experienced drivers on hand should you wish to get advice about track orientation, or simply get them to provide tips to get the most out of your car, yourself and the fantastic Lakeside circuit.

Format: We need a minimum of 25 people to make this day a success but can take a maximum of 35. At this stage, with the exception of approved instruction, there will be no passenger rides.

Indemnity Forms. Please download the indemnity form, and have it completed with you on the Friday morning. This will save time, and allow you to get on the track earlier.
BMW Club Indemnity Form
There will be a Queensland Raceways Indemnity form to be completed on the day

REQUIREMENTS

Current civilian drivers license and/or AASA competition license (to be presented during sign on), (Drivers who are not old enough to have a departmental drivers license, but hold a AASA license, and have relevant track experience can participate).

Vehicle noise level must be under 92dB at 5000 rpm from a distance of 8m behind the vehicle.
Vehicle which is mechanically safe and of a road worthy condition.
New or near new brake fluid, Min DOT 4.
Brake pads that are performance orientated.
Suitable seats and restraints.
Safety wear: Full length clothing, Helmet. (no open, high heel shoes)
Completed signed indemnity forms (as above)
Count me in Tim. I tested out the noise levels on my car tonight and it was 89-90db in a quiet area and 91-92db in areas with traffic and surrounding noises. I measured the volume around 7 metres behind to be on the safe side

Nice car Ian. What's involved in getting a licence and how much?

Also, any other 1addicts keen to go?

Way, taka, john + 3 other friends , alik1, sparoz, lava, gazz - there's 10. 8 short? .

Assumptions it would be too far for Steve Brown to travel to PI, and NPV hasn't featured on this post yet. My problem is timing - as it's either this year or later next year. Not sure if they are happy to run an additional course for all of us who gets it for free. I know my sales actually keen to come as well, and I am sure he doesn't have to pay for it either.

For the other guys, it's normally priced at 1895 - so a lot more expensive than a track day.

sorry, miss you on the list - you should pick the M dynamic - M cars only.

Thanks sparoz for the advice.

However, my understanding was that a prerequisite for M Dynamic is having attended the Intensive course, not unlike how other driving training organisations follow a sequential progression.

This is alluded to on the website and the pdf ...
http://www.bmw.com.au/com/en/insight...rochure-01.pdf

I am also at an early stage, but receiving instruction from BMW CCV and Driver Dynamics, but the idea of a 1addicts group attendance is appealing no doubt

Say hi to Kev for me the next time you attend a Driver Dynamics day.

As for the BMW driver training, I have done 3 of them in the past, and I can tell the track regulars/junkies (Taka, looking at you buddy!) out there that you aren't going to be a faster track driver from doing it. And you will not really get the chance to push the car the way we are used to on the track as pace is dictated by them. You do get to have fun with the motorkhana stuff (but I am a high speed sort of guy and don't do so well at motorkhana lol). But I guess ultimately the best part for us M owners is that it is free, and you are thrashing someone else's car including M3. For those who have never owned a M3 before, keep your credit cards and cheque books away from the track lol. It is in this environment that you truely see what the E90/92 M3s are made of.

Thanks Way.
Think I bumped into Kev on Sunday, but the principal instructor was an older gentleman. Very experience, engaging and authoritative.

Yes I would love to push a M3 DCT (M Dynamic course) because I have never driven one, but at the same time I'm already quite scared in the 1M. If it's not raining, I'll take the car out for a drive on the weekends, but it is just ridiculous what is happening in 3rd and 4th gear. I've been unimpressed with Ford Mustang and V8 supercars in the past, but this 1M is nothing short of blistering.

I'm not fussed which BMW Australia course I do, because as you mentioned I won't be learning to drive fast on these courses, but waiting another 6-12m for M Dynamic seems a painfully long time

If we are able to organise an extra for us this year, who would but their hand up? I would nominate PI as the centre stage.

Gazz - Anytime.

If you want Geoff Brabham I think you will find that he will be fully booked already. However I am sure BMW will have an adequate alternative.
