Sounds like the E30 M3 driver was Chris Conant out of KC ? I know him quite well.
Unfortunately, the local E30 M3 population has dwindled in DFW. Several owners have 1Ms... possibly my fault! the owners that do have them, unortunately have not been out in force at AX as they have moved on to DE. The 740 was definitely a rare bird! We had an owner with an F10 M5 come out in June! Quote:

But in any case, I don't know how copying and pasting a block of text makes a fact any more or less true. Look up circular logic.

A High Performance Sports Engine. Interview with Jürgen Poggel, Head of Engine Development, BMW M GmbH. If you can't believe this mans answers I must ask you who can you believe? How you respond to this answer is up to you, we can't control that.. Should you still not believe this would you please keep it to yourself because you are becoming pretty tiring. Thanks

On another note, if you cannot participate in a discussion without being easily offended or tired, then I really don't think an online forum is the right place for you.

Hmmmmm, I think I got it! The M button triggers a heated discussion during which things can get out of control among 1M owners community...exactly as the (evil) engineers planned.

Not defending anyone here, but I think the forum member is simply asking if there is anything more concrete than just a throwaway line about the 1m at the end of a sentence when discussing the engine and M button of the M5. It's a provocative statement as can be seen in this thread. It's like BMW saying our cars have only 250kw - we all know through dynos that this is untrue.
I'm no engineer, but if the wastegate action is true, should we not be able to log this on a dyno? |

If I have "M" button "ON", I have considerable more drone than when it is OFF, and the waste gate is closed..Makes sense..( Meisterschaft GT exhaust ) "Flame suit on..fire away...." |

Regarding something the M-engineer mentioned about valvetronic in the M5, I thought the n54 doesn't have valvetronic, that was something the n55 got. Or was this modified for the 1M?

As a subjective opinion only from those that had sprint boosters added to their n54 and now have a 1m, did the sensations of this mod alone feel similar to pressing the m button? |

i m by no means an expert and have no clue what goes on under the bonnet, but it does feel to me the M button on the 1m and the sport button are somehow similar since both increase throttle response, but the main difference to me is the M button makes the throttle a bit more aggressive than the sport one on the 135

Keeping the wastegate closed means revving the engine you'd be building boost.
Simple to see/test. Anyone with a boost gauge (P3 gauge etc) could perhaps try this for us. M button OFF, rev the car, see what you get. Repeat with M button ON, if it's true you should see positive boost. Simples ... like the Meerkat adds. |

Ok...so we have an M engineer saying the M button keeps the wastegates closed. I think it is up to the non believers to prove this to be false rather than have the believers prove it to be true. At this point, I believe the M dude. I don't think it really matters because if its not....its not like its going to cause me to sell the car.

We've covered this last year. If the M engineer says the M button closes the waste gates, then that what I'm going to call it. I treat the M engineer along the same line as how I treat Cassius Clay's momma!

I tested both (M button on and off). There´s a difference.
Green line Off. Red line On.
