N55 JB4+meth dyno results

Do I smell a new N55 dyno record here??

Quote:
The car is our 2011 135i w/ DCT, JB4 (Stage2), AR 4" downpipe, and WW quick install meth kit. I have an N55 Helix IC for it but have not had time to install it yet, hopefully soon! The car is using the same Shell 91 octane + NOS octane booster it's been on for the past 3k miles. Temps were in the low 70s.

For today's meth testing I wound up having to run 100% duty cycle most of the power band. Meaning the JB4 is working the wastegate as much as it can be worked. And even in that trim it struggled to hold 17psi @ 5000rpm and 13psi @ 6000rpm. Overall I'm happy with the results but sad to report this motor with the stock turbo is about tapped out at around 370rw. Maybe with the IC on cold day we can extend that to 385rw. But it's going to take a questionably loose dynojet and a prayer to get to 400rw.

On the plus side I superimposed one of the runs against the same car when it was stock and was pleased with the 100whp delta.

Despite the small turbo you guys are going to *love* Stage2. All the N54 functionality is there, we've put lagfix back in, and partial throttle is buttery smooth.

I am pretty sure apart from the AR 4" DP the rest of the exhaust is stock. Seen as though the N55 has no secondary cats in the midpipe then changing the rest of the exhaust is pretty pointless from a power perspective.

^ there is a resonator in the mid pipes right before the axle back, i'm not sure how restrictive it is, but its there.

and with 400+ ft lbs do you really need anything else? great numbers guys!!

The resonator on the N55 is pretty straight through like the N54. I have a N55 midpipe on my '09 135. Very happy I made the switch.

Awesome numbers. Especially the TQ

If your waste gate duty cycles are at 100% and your goal is to make more boost then why not ask a good tuner to correct that so the wastegate isn't bypassing so much and you get your boost up past 17psi. May not be a great idea for other reasons, but if you want to squeeze everything you can out of it then there you go. Afterall, all the wastegate is doing is bypassing exhast gases to the turbine so that it doesn't spin beyond targeted boost levels.

Interesting! That's some serious mofucking power. I guess the N54 does have the potential for more horsepower, but the N55 seems to put down more ft lbs for the same horsepower.

The Stage2/JB4 upgrade is $100 for original Stage1 purchasers and the WW meth kit is $479. You also need to add a meth bung or buy a charge pipe. BMS has a very nice one with OEM hardware for $279.
