Best Source and Price for BMW Performance Suspension

Hi,

New here with my second 135i, it's a 08 manual Cashmere Silver Metallic.

I want to have the BMW Performance Suspension installed.

What's the best price and who should I purchase from?

Appreciate any input!

Why BMWPS? Are you keeping the runflats? There are so many better options out there if you are going to be using non-RFTs. BMWPS for the 1er is still underdamped.

BMW Performance Suspension is good for people who want to stay with BMW parts, like me. Plus it's not a bad suspension at all. Not too stiff and not too low.

Sure, why use superior hardware when you can have a badge? Easy choice.

OP: if your heart is set on the BMWPS contact Phil at Reeves BMW or the crew at Tischer (GetBMWParts) and ask them for a quote. Both parts departments are fantastic.

Or if you want to stay within warranty, not that it would apply in this case.

Staying with OEM part numbers also helps resale quite a bit.

Turner

The 2 recommended OE BMW parts places are excellent. Otherwise I would highly recommend Turner Motorsport.

As others have said OE parts means something to some people. BMW stands for quality. Not every one wants to ride in a stiff lowrider.

You can get it cheaper. I got 20% off at my dealer. Just ask them. Most are willing to give discounts.

Is the performance suspension just springs or are the dampers included? Kind of pricey just for springs.

Springs, struts and shocks and front sway bar for the 135i. There's also a separate kit for the 128 without sports package that includes a rear sway bar also.

Slight (related) thread jack: It says on bmwusa that 18" wheels are recommended. Is this really true? Coming from a non-sport 128i.

I think that means not larger than 18" but not totally sure. Better check with a reliable source before buying.

Any size wheel is fine as long as you have sufficient space to the guard, strut, and liner given your desired overall diameter and width. With BMWPS you will be fine with pretty much anything that fits at stock height.

Non-sport 128i would have you on 17s right? You'll be fine.

Thanks for all the replies. My dealer ended up matching the best internet price I found with the help of Greg, which was $1142.

Not to thread jack but I wanted to get an opinion on this as well.
I'm looking to buy the BMW PS soon as well. I planned on buying just the springs and sways and using Koni yellows. What would be the best way to get Just the springs, sways and hardware?
Is there a better alternative to the BMW sway bars that is cheaper?

I'm pretty sure you can't buy the sway bars separately - only as part of the BMW performance suspension kit. The only parts that come separate are the springs.

Mine goes on Wednesday! Glad I could help, and can't wait to hear your impressions and thoughts. I'll also take my customary 15% commission on the money I saved you...heck, I'm in a good mood, make it 10. Kidding.

A lot of people buy the e92 M3 sway bar which is a little stiffer/thicker than the one from the PS kit, and some people also get the e93 M3 sway bar as apparently it's even a little more rigid on the convertible model. I think someone on the forum is even currently selling their used e93 M3 sway bar. So, if you just want that upgrade, that's probably your best route as I'm sure the part numbers for those two are around.

That way, you can order the springs, one of those sways, and I guess any other lil hardware bits you might need. For what it's worth, one of the top shops recommended to me to go with koni yellows with the swift r spec springs as the ideal setup on our cars.
