Agreed, e.g. there's one 9000km AW and black rims for $80k+on roads. If warranty is important for you, make sure you negotiate a good price for extended warranty given 3yr is up for most 1Ms.

Pretty sure the car in the original post was the one that used to live near me at Pac Pines. It used to have personal plates.
He did have a go at selling it privately but looks like he may have been given a good deal from Bris BMW AFAIK the car is stock |

They dropped more rapidly than a well optioned low k 135i actually but that's due to the higher price tag. They have more to drop before they stabilize. You'll see them continue go down as they age. Australia did get heaps for its population unlike NA. They also never got the M135i which may have something to do with it too.
I've not seen a car in Australia appreciate much in recent times....maybe C63 AMG black. We only got 32 of them. |

Mercs CLA and A45's have appreciated, ask Jaffa. There's a ex Merc head office used a45 for sale locally, $12k over retail, the dealer will make only $2k out of it as it was auctioned to the dealers by MBA. This is as a result of supply and demand, not because they will hold that money, in time they will plummet too. I'm just glad we sold our 2 1Ms when we did (resale wise). |

Are they a good car for a fang through the mountains? Felt pretty twitchy on the test drive
Also had an oil light and clutch stink before I put any serious load on it |

It's a twitchy car by nature due to the short wheel base. If you don't like that trait then look into a E92 M3 instead. It's a much more stable car to fang in the mountains.

It makes you smile at anytime. Not sure about the clutch stink, I've never experienced that. Take another one for a spin to compare, I've not heard of any real clutch issues with the car. The car will go thru about a litre of oil between oil changes, was it just a low oil light that came on? You can check the level in iDrive. Good luck with your shopping, I'm about to pick up a new toy myself after a fairly comprehensive test drive of a dozen different cars. |

Probably by the time the stocks are 'low' they'll be fairly old cars though... How are A45's appreciating, i thought they were brought here in volume? |

Long wait times.
They'll all drop eventually, they are a mass produced product. The 1M's aren't going to go up in value, there are too many of them same with the A/CLA 45s |

Can't see any recent or future M AMG or P cars appreciating in Australia, not unless they are something astonishing and low exquisite supply. Special vehicles may depreciate slower but they will depreciate. 1M is no different.
