4100 SERIES SINGLE ADJUSTABLES

The 4100 Series shocks introduce high performance monotube technology at prices competitive with twin tube insert coilover kits.
They include purpose built strut and shock bodies, shortened from stock lengths.
They are single adjustable (rebound only) and can be custom valved for your application.
4100s use the same internals as our 4300 Competition shocks.

APEX Price: $1849

5000 SERIES INVERTED ADJUSTABLES
Single, Double & Triple Adjustable versions

5000 series: These are an inverted strut design, which makes for a very stiff strut assembly, providing better suspension geometry under heavy lateral and braking loads seen in a road course environment.
They are available in single, double, and triple adjustable versions, and can be modularly upgraded from the base 5100 series to the 5200 or 5300 by simply purchasing the external reservoir attachment.
This provides an upgrade path for customers on a tight budget.

APEX Price: $2779

Why Buy AST USA Shocks - The Four P’s
Besides tires, SHOCK ABSORBERS are the most important parts on your car.
They need to be perfectly matched to your springs, your driving style, and your car overall.
AST PREMIUM SHOCK ABSORBERS offer superior performance in FOUR CRITICAL AREAS:
Price
Performance
Piston size
Pressurization
Before AST, there were constant compromises when shopping for shocks.
When you choose AST USA, you can have the best in all four areas and create a performance oriented package that you know you deserve.

Price

Consider what you get with AST products and the value for your money becomes self evident.
All levels of AST shock absorber are hand built using brand new, custom housings.
Even with the Performance Grade 4100 series, you are getting the internals of the 3 way shocks in a single adjustable (rebound only) coilover kit.
Competitiors at or below AST prices simply do not offer the same high technology and features.

Performance

AST shocks are monotube design for a reason; they perform better. When will you notice this?
Big bumps in turns and fast transitions on the track / autocross course are where true premium shock performance becomes evident.
Ride in or drive any car with this level of shock and you’ll know instantly why people buy them, they make the difference.
Other non-monotube designs on the market exist for two reasons: comfort and cheaper manfacturing expense.
These are two things can do without when time on the track counts!

Piston Size

AST's monotube design translates into a bigger piston.
When you put AST shocks on your car, you know that those big pistons can handle much larger loads.
This translates directly into the ability to fine tune your shock.
Other shocks that use twin tubes have much smaller pistons; and that means less ability to handle performance loads and less flexibility when it comes to adjustments.

Pressurization

All of our shocks are pressurized to a minimum of 175 psi with nitrogen.
High pressurization keeps the oil from cavitating around the AST piston.
Cavitation makes the shock ineffective, pressurization makes a consistent environment for the shock to do its job correctly with every stroke.
Other lesser products (and even some more expensive ones) say they are pressurized, but they may be only
14 -29 psi - not something you need on your mind when approaching the next curve.
When you choose AST, you know that with each and every bump and hard corner, your shocks will be there to meet the challenge with superior design, pressurization, and value.

These are true monotube race style dampers, KW, Eibach, H&R, and Koni options for the 1 series, don't even come close to comparing in performance, or internal build quality.

The 4100's come with a 12 month warranty. I'm not sure what the warranty is on the 5000 series, I'll double check that. These are race style dampers, and although many of the kits are fully TUV tested and approved for street use, customers use them for HPDE, autocross and race events.

These are not an uprated street damper based off the oem shock design. These are pure race breed components.

Dampers like AST, JRZ, Ohlins, and Moton get re-valved after extensive use.

The specifications for the AST 4100 E36, E46 and E82/E90 packages are identical - I think you have some cut/paste issues in there.
Could you please update with what the actual spring rates you are using with the E82 package?
Thanks

You can pick custom spring rates for the 5100 series at no cost so you get what ever you want.

The AST stuff just went live on our site, and we had the wrong "recommended" rates listed due to a copy/paste error. it's been fixed. I still recommend people select their own rates, and that either be based off their own research or to talk to us on the phone for a recommendation based off of their actual use of the car and other modifications. We can get a lot of direct feedback from AST, and others running them on the 1 who've played with rates a bit.
