Purchasing 135i - Sound query

I have been waiting out for a 135i with all the options i'm after
Black or white
Nav (08 onwards), Sunroof and Premium sound

I have found a great one with low kms however, it doesn't have premium sound.

Can a system be retrofitted easily into the 135i, and what sort of cost would it take to acheive similar quality found in the Hifi/Logic 7

Hi and welcome to the forums. You can retrofit the Alpine sound system to a car with standard sound. Here is the discussion thread - http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=327268. Think the cost was about $1400.

Good luck with your search!

Hey welcome to the forums! I see you've got a Mazda 6 MPS...crazy cars it's a shame they don't make them anymore.

Anyway, IMO the HiFi/Logic 7 systems offered by BMW are pretty shitty Bang for your Buck wise. If you spend the same amount of money you can get an aftermarket system that's a LOT better. People have said that just fitting a decent amp to the stock system improves things by a lot.

not sure if it would be as good as the premium sound though. If you are putting in afterwards you might as well got completely aftermarket.

BMWRX just had a quote for good speakers, and a good 4 channel amp to run the fronts and the underseat woofers for $1900 installed. That would kill any standard BMW audio package. Except maybe in the lower bass area as it would still use the 6" woofers under the seat. The HiFi/Logic I believe uses an 8" woofer, but with less power.

i have a logic 7 in my car and i think it's pretty average. i have also heard after market systems in the 1 series are very difficult to install - so it's a catch 22. Only advice get a good installer if you go after market.

Hey Mate

I have fitted a custom system to my car. Check it out http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=326785

I went the whole nine yards... got a custom sub box and a awesome audio processor. Its sounds amazing. If you are keen to check it out I am in Melbourne too.

Nice setup jbgti!

The quote that BMWRX had uses the same front speakers and amp as jbgti is using.

jb, any chance you can say how much that cost installed? (or at least how much the sub box was?)

Whole lot was $5000 installed. Sub box, cables and install was around $1200. Think sub box was around $500.

As much as I love car audio - I rather spend it on the home system instead. I know it sounds strange coming from someone who paid too much for the BMW option (to me I paid $1000 for the system and $1000 for the integration ), but I change cars so often that I often left with the gear laying around doing nothing and end up giving it away to someone.

So, still searching for a good surround processor and amp that is good to drive some b&ws or dynaudio bookshelves, but that's really OT.

Back to the OP, jbgti's got a really great system setup there.

Agree with you there to a certain extent Sparoz, but for someone like me who spends at least an hour a day in the car I would love to have something like I used to have in my younger days ($10k+!!!). I probably wouldn't spend an hour a day using a home theatre/stereo...
