Evo Magazine - Running 1M in Fast Fleet
The latest copy of Evo mag has just arrived on my doormat. They are running a 1M on long term test for six months. Not much to report in this issue, except "...I grabbed a blissful 15 minutes pushing the 1M hard on a fabulous B-road and it was one of the best 15 minutes of my life. In fact, on my return I emailed BMW and asked if we could keep the car for longer than the planned six months. Much longer..." :-)

Was it Harris or Catchpole writing this?
Evo is the best car mag out there right now. I just hate ponying up $10+ everytime I want to read it. Anyone try the iPad version? How does it compare to the paper one?

Ooooh that's interesting! I'll have to wander down to the newsagents and see if I can buy a copy.
So that's both Autocar and Evo running a 1M on a long term test now. Although I won't complain about it as I love to read the articles, but it does seem odd that they should run a limited run car on a long term basis. It's not as if you can buy them any more in the UK now.... |

Halo effect - makes the 'brand' sound a bit more exciting and people will rush down to the main dealer find out the 1M is out of production and buy a 120d instead... maybe. |

Seems like a much better deal here in the US than print copies at $10/ea

Indeed! I am subscribed to it as well. On paper it cost 20USD here in Switzerland . So the Ipad subscription is a good deal
What annoys me is that the new magazine is still not out yet for the Ipad! They should launch it at the same date as the paper version. |

Topgear magazine running one for a few months too (July issue - Evoque on front). Not sure if its the same one from the show. It doesn't mention that. Also they hint at the 1M featuring Performance Car of year awards which will be in the Aug edition. Looks like the motoring press have access to 0.667% of all 1Ms in the UK.
p.s Even my parents local rag in Harlow had a review of the 1M. They only usually do Hyundai MPV tests. |

I did some backroad driving with my 1M too. I stopped driving because i was almost out off petrol. I had a smile from ear to ear. This car is just increadable on those roads. It feels like a rwd rallycar. Just awesome.

iPad version is pretty cool. I liked it, first iPad type mag I bought was an Evo article on the 1M.

Nope, it's Nick Trott (Evo Editer) who is writing the updates.
He did say in the article that the car will be doing Evo track days and will feature in the Car of The Year piece they do every year end. He added that he expected it to do very well The car will also be used every day for a 70 mile commute and will do some European road trips. It should be good piece to follow! |
