Does it make sense to have 255 rubber on a 128i?
I'm asking because the Toyobaru BRZ/FRS is such a success with its skinny tires and my 128i needs a new set.
I'm wondering if there is value in 255 rear rubber on a 128i vs 135i which has so much more torque. Dont get me wrong fat tires will look great from the back at the cost of fuel efficiency. Will it make the 128i less toss-able? Am i better off seeking a Square set up ? or to keep it at stock 18 inch tire sizes ( My car may is unlikely to see a track event, i prefer the country roads with their slight twists and hills. Im considering RE11, PSS, Conti DW)

Hi !
I should recommand to every 1Addict to swap the rear tires with 255's ones ! Your car will be more stable, you will definitively have more grip (what are the specs of your actual tires ?). For example, I swap my 120d (Ok, not really a sportcar but a dieselsport xD : almost 225hp / 345lbft) to winter mode with 225 rear (and 205 front) Pirelli and I missed I had less sized rubbers when I turned the first day I drove with them ... I drifted a bit ... When I previously had 205/225 (r17) for summer tires, I hadn't this terrible grip and precision I have now with my 225/255 (r18) summer tires So yes, definitively yes, go to 255. Moreover, I would recommand you Mochelin PS3 or PS2 which are said to be a very strong combo for our cars

Why not! IF your 128i has the M-sport wheels(with the staggered setup)... you would have 245's on the rear anyways. Why not upgrade to 255's then?

I don't think going bigger well hurt you do to you torque being higher then the brz it true though on low torque and low hp wider tires is not always faster around the track do to added weigh to the axels

255's are a solid size. I would imagine extremely wide wheels would hurt performance (depending on what you're doing), but 1 size up isn't an issue.

Depends what you are trying to accomplish. Staggered setup has understeer. Going 255 will increase that understeer unless you supersize the front to 225 too. That will leave you status quo to the factory staggered set up. If you go 225 in front and stay at 245 in back you'll get a bit less understeer. Sooooo...it depends what you are trying to accomplish.
