ideal size 245/40R17 or 255/40R17

Have been running PSS on OEM 18'' for 3 events and they are almost gone.
Thinking about getting the TR motorsport C2 17X8.5 ET 40 wheels and running on ZII Star Specs.

After some research seems like 245 square is the widest I can go without problem. (Car has Swift springs which are giving a 1'' drop and all fenders (OEM) are rolled and trimmed, cambers : -2.6F -2.5R, -2.6 is the max I can go with m3 front control arms and Dinan fixed plates)

So the questions is :

1. is 255/40/17 a possible fit? If so, how will it feel comparing to 245/40/17, based on the wheel size and other factors?

2. instead of 255/40/17 street tires, also thinking about 235/40/17 Nitto NT01. the actual width should be similar to 245 street tires, I guess? Anybody has any experience with this fitment?

3. For the star spec tire itself, is it a proper tire for BMWs (I mean, we need lost of camber, and cars are heavy)?

I have the exact wheels your considering with 245/45/17 ZII's. The suspension is stock except for camber plates and i'm running -2.0 camber in front and -2.5 in the rear. There's no way i could run 255 ZII's in the rear with rolled fenders, but you said your fenders are also trimmed, so maybe... well i'm also on a stock suspension and you're not, so i guess my setup isn't that comparable.

It will depend on the offset of the wheel, and how willing you are to do fender rolling/modifications. There are people on this forum running a 255/40-17 up front but I don't know what specs they have with the wheels and fender work.

This is literally the thread below yours...

Full of photos of kgolf's car running 17x9s +45 (33 in front after 12mm spacer) with 255-40-17 RE71Rs (comparable to Z2 *S) with rolled fenders but no crazy work. I will also be running this setup, you might need to increase your camber a little but then it should work just fine.

Given Kgolf's set up, you should be fine with those wheels, a 8mm spacer, and 255's.
