Pics of my Slek carbon trunk, quad exhaust, carbon diffusor, etc.!
Hi everyone,
My little 1 is inching ever closer to the how I envisioned it when purchased back in September. It's an 08 135i, which has been undergoing changes almost constantly heh. I was considering getting a 1///M, but when I realized it had the same motor as the 135i, as well as the mass ripp-off price dealers were marking them up, I said hell no. I'd get a freaking Z06 for that price lol! Anyway, it's turned out to be a blessing because I've really come to hate the bubble fenders of the 1///M and I loooooove the way my car is looking right now. Mod list is extensive, but it has bolt on everything with Cobb Stage 2+. Exhaust is straight through, Macht Schnell DPs, Meisterschaft Sus Gt Mid-pipes, and Inside Performance Quad Exhaust painted matte black, with matching cf diffusor. I hate how the 1///M stick the pipes so far out to the side of the car, and love how the ones on my car look now. Reminds me of an E46 ///M3, and makes the back end look fat now. The exhaust just rips at WOT now, with no droning at an rpm ever. I couldn't be happier. Outside, I just put on the Slek carbon trunk in the past couple weeks. I HIGHLY recommend this trunk. It's a gorgeous piece, and the CSL tail really compliments the rear. The 2x2 weave is top knotch, fitment was great, and Harold at HP is extremely helpful and all around great guy. I'm going to be buying the carbon hood from them when it's available, so my project is not complete! Other exterior mods are carbon mirrors, Exotic tuning CF splitters, 19" VMR V710s in a custom metallic color, with 235/265 tire combo, racing yellow powdercoated Brembo calipers, LCI tails, LED angel eyes, list goes on and on. I also just completed wrapping my interior with the 3M Dinoc vinyl, and it came out better than I could have imagined. We're going to be wrapping the roof of the car in the same material once I get my Slek carbon hood. It's still a work in progress, but inching ever so closer to where I want it to be! Let me know what ya think! |

Thanks! Diffusor is made by Inside Performance, and is coupled with their quad exhaust. The quad is honestly kinda goofy looking without the diffusor on (luckily nobody will ever see it heh), as it's just an extra pipe which flows off the main muffler. I tested both sides however, and each flows well. It's a pretty quiet exhaust unless you lay into it, which is great considering I'm straight through hehe.

looks real good man, real good. I would put the grill back on the front, too much intercooler, has that evo look, but that is nit picking really. Great ride

Looks the business mate, very aggressive. It's a shame the Slek trunk and diffuser have the carbon fiber weave going in the opposite direction, otherwise it looks fantastic. I'd recommend doing the Blackline LCI to compliment the look you are going for too. Only $350.

Car looks sweet!
Are the wheels all the same size? Must be an illusion if so but just by looking I thought you might have had 19 in rear with 18 in front as the slant looks increased. |

I just got some Blacklines, they look amazing on BSM, they would on yours as well I'm sure. Nice work man. I envisioned something very similar on mine too! Only differences between yours and mine (when I'm done) would be my silver rims, red calipers
Sick ride. |

Thanks Harold! The trunk is getting compliments all the time, and I'm so happy I bought it. I look forward to getting the hood from you soon as well!
To all, thanks for the compliments/suggestions. I've thought of blacking out the clear lenses on the front fenders, but I like the clear better honestly. As for the front, I understand some thinking it might be too JDM but I love the look of the big fat intercooler up front. As well, I don't even think the front grill would fit anymore with the IC. There's no way I'm putting the grills on the side ducts back in as I thought those were ugly as heck from the get go. In fact, the first "mod" I did to my car was removing all three grills. Did it the same day I bought the car. As well, the splitters in front look the best of all options to me. I can't stand the "surfboard" look if you know what I mean. Well once again, thanks for all your comments and suggestions. I'm extremely happy with the car right now, and it's getting a lot of attention from people on the road, gas stations, etc. I always enjoy having someone who appreciates cars come up and talk to me, and it definitely makes all the time/money spent worth it. |

Finally, the four screws that attach the Slek trunk to the stock trunk hinges are NOT the same size as the stock bolts (they are much smaller). I found this out after I'd already removed the stock trunk heh. However, there is an easy fix. When you remove the trunk lock thing, the bolts that attach the trunk lock to the stock trunk are the exact same size as the bolts you'll need for the new Slek trunk when you attach it to the hinges. Your best best is to remove one of these stock bolts first, and go to your local hardware place. I can't remember the exact length I used, but it wasn't very long. Get those, along with four new washers as those as mandatory. Other than that, everything is awesome and fitment is absolutely outstanding. It's definitely high quality through and through, and you'll be very happy with everything. One last thing, I found an easy trick to pull the stock wiring harness into the new trunk. Tape off all the connections on the stock wiring harness (so it looks like just one long wire), then tape a wire hanger to the end and push it through. Then, use another wire hanger to grab the one you taped to the wiring harness, and pull it right out! Of course, don't forget to leave hooks on each end of the hangers. I had the wiring harness installed in the Slek trunk in literally 20 seconds with this method. Good luck! One ONE last thing, hehe. Make sure you only use ONE of the hydraulic lifter things for your new trunk. The trunk is much lighter than stock, and if you use both stock ones, your trunk will fly open like crazy. hah |
