Anyone Buy Car after Lease?
Question is : Do dealers usually work with you on the lease buyout price, (mine is $24,200) is there any wiggle room there? I want to buy it out, but would also like it to be certified pre-owned before I buy it out. My dealer says this is about a $2500 item for CPO status.
Comments? anyone got the price reduced, or maybe gotten the CPO included in the buyout? CAR STATS: 2008 135i w/ Sport pkg, htd seats, and C/Access. 12k miles Showroom new. VMR wheels and Hankooks mounted. Still have Factory 5 spokes and run-flats BMW Perf parts - Rotors, CF rear spoiler, pedals. All else stock. $0 money put down $661.75 / month lease 3yr term Lease end date (May 8th 2011) Any help or suggestions are appreciated.

In my experience, BMW will negotiate residual values at lease end if you wish to buy the car. Other makes, ie Acura/Honda, will not.

If you turned a leased car in with low miles (like in OPs case) and you plan to purchase a new BMW, do you think the amount of miles on that car would possibly give you a better deal on you next car?

I am going to buy mine out early if they give me a fair price.

Get two appraisals. This should give you some idea of what the car is really worth? Here, I'm talking about wholesale. If the car has only 12K total is should be pretty desirable. However, financing 20+K for a used car will mean another 36+ months of payments. Translation, you will have a 6-7 yr old car that will have depreciated quite a lot.

MY2012 will be out by then, start saving and you might be in for a surprise.. I'd guess a dealer would want you to buy it to keep an older model off his lot.. But in lease buyouts I hear dealer has upperhand not buyer..
