Used 135i pricing questions.
Hello,
I am new to this forum. I signed up because I am in the hunt for a 2008 135i coupe [or convertible if the price is right]. I've been told that CPO is the only way to go. The biggest problem is finding a car with manual transmission, no one seems to have them, and I've contacted at least 6 dealership in and around San Francisco. My budget is around 27k OTD, however, this can be stretch to 29-30l if I find the perfect car. I did find a manual convertible [CPO] at bmwsf, and the price seems to be good, here are the details : Price $29,888 engine: 3.0 L I6 Cyl. interior: Gray exterior: Jet Black model code: P mileage: 24,201 installed options : Options PREMIUM PKG SPORT PKG HEATED FRONT SEATS (494) IPOD & USB ADAPTER (6FL) From basic research online, this appears to be a stellar rate. However, the dealer received this car in sept 2009, and it has been lying in the lot for a few months. Do you guys think I can price him down, and if yes, by how much ? Essentially, I want to make an offer and walk away, and would like to know what I can pull off. Thanks a ton in advance ! p.s : I would prefer the coupe, but for the life of me cannot seem to find a non-autobox |

NYC,
That sounds about right. I have been told to expect an extra 2-3k for a used convertible. This means I may not have much negotiating power when it comes to actually buying the car. The carfax looks really good, and low miles and extended warranty are definitely plus points. Was the price you paid OTD, or before all the tax, dmv additions ? I might also mention that being in SF, my tax rates are just under 10% |

OP, I am actually in the same exact situation as you only on the East Coast in Boston. Same price range, and options. There's a 6MT coupe in AZ for 24k, 29,000 miles but not CPO. So add the few hundred for convert and a few thousand for CPO and it's a great price.
But I think if you want a coupe, you will find one soon and if you're going to ever think about regretting it, it won't be worth it. Not when $30,000 is on the line... Good Luck with the search! The wait is killing me... |

nchiarel, looks like manual coupes are few and far between. A dealer I spoke to also pointed out the red coupe in Tuscon for 24k. However, given that certifying it adds another 3-3.5 k, it appears the price is back to 27k+.
Besides, I'm not particularly fond of the colour [red]. I think I would be fine paying an extra 2-3k for the convertible, if the price is just right. I just wanted to know if the stated price is ok. I'm test driving the car on Saturday, hopefully it turns out to be good. |

I always hear that CPO typically costs a few thousand dollars but when I purchased my vehicle, my dealer told me it only costs them $500 and that is the price they added to the price of the car.
I got a steal imo at $27,500 before tax, tag, and title. 08 with only 6,400 miles, prem, sport, navi, hifi and cpo It took quite a bit of time to find the right car but it was worth the wait. I drove about 4 hours to pick it up but would have flown across country for the perfect one |

I'm actually looking for the same thing for this upcoming summer on the east coast.. Only concern about CPO is the HPFP.. But I'm new here and maybe that isn't even a problem anymore haha.

i was worried about it too but hey you get 100k mile warranty on it just like maxnix said...if you like power dont make the mistake i did and get a 328i...it was slow for me(coming from a 400whp evo) and lifter problems that i had on it were more serious than a HPFP...

NYC, that's quite the deal. The convertible pricing seems fairly good, but I'm not entire sure I prefer it over the coupe, and hence justifying 3k for something I probably don't want is difficult.
Two of my close friends bought cars last week, which has shattered by presumably zen monk like patience in waiting for the right '08 manual coupe to come around. I will still go for the test drive, and try not to act in haste. |
