Couple of pictures from my day at the track

I got a CD from the guy taking pictures of us at my track day last weekend and I thought I'd post a couple of the cooler ones.

The first one is a picture of me in the 135i with my Father's Lotus out behind me. I like this one because even though it wasn't a race it makes me look like I was winning.

The second one is of me in the 135i behind a very nice 2002.

Very cool pics, but how hot was it? The heat distortion is major in the background cars (the Lotus especially).

It was in the mid/high 90s. It's out in the middle of the desert, so there are absolutely no trees or anything else to provide shade and cool things down. Luckily the air conditioner in the 135i seems to work pretty well, and doesn't cause a noticeable strain on the engine. (in my old car I'd always turn off the A/C when I knew I was going to take off fast because it lagged the engine big time)

What kind of oil temps were you seeing? Mine was getting up there on a 100 degree day.

Actually not bad. I never really saw it go much over the 250 midline, and it never got anywhere near the top end of the guage. However I'm a total newb, so I probably wasn't pushing the car as hard as someone who knew what they were doing would have.

Awesome Dan.

Since I can't take my 'vert to the track, I'm considering getting a car like your Dad's.

I actually had a Lotus two years ago, and I'm thinking of getting one again for a track car.

Tell more about it. How did you do?

(No slippery floormats allowed!... LOL!)

Looks like fun. What luck to get a picture behind the 2002. From the old to the new.
