123D Dual Exhaust Upgrade, Help!

Hello,

New member and new owner of a 123D, loving this car and wanted to get a few upgrades. Hoping someone could help me out!

Looking at getting a custom exhaust system fitted, have a quote for a Kerscher 1m rear bumper and quad exhaust system. The entire exhaust system will be built by the garage as Milltek have stopped production on the 123D quads.

Q: Is it really worth putting a custom exhaust system on a diesel?

Q: Due to a custom job, silencers will be an extra, what's a good one for a low yield sound, nothing too aggressive but something that actually lets you know your doing 100mph.

Q: It's loud enough as it is inside the cabin, will a quad exhaust system make this worse?

Q: On a custom setup, can the DPF still burn off soot adequately like BMW's stock one?

Regards!

There aren't too many diesel owners on here but there's one guy that did a full custom rear 1M rep bumper and quad on his. I'm sure with some searching you could find it on the photo section of the forums.

As for your questions...
Q: Is it really worth putting a custom exhaust system on a diesel?
A: That's entirely up to you. If you're keeping it and want/like the look and sound of a quad setup on a diesel, and the investment is worth it to you, then go for it.

Q: Due to a custom job, silencers will be an extra, what's a good one for a low yield sound, nothing too aggressive but something that actually lets you know your doing 100mph.
A: No idea what sounds good for diesels, I think the guy I mentioned before went with Remus? Watch youtube videos to get some sound examples.

Q: It's loud enough as it is inside the cabin, will a quad exhaust system make this worse?
A: Same as above

Q: On a custom setup, can the DPF still burn off soot adequately like BMW's stock one?
A: No clue! Talk to your shop about this one

After some phoning around it seems like Kerscher are the only ones still making them. I'm hoping a custom system will do more good than harm for the engine of my 123d. Might get a Dyno test done beforehand, only way i'll know for certain.

Kerscher 123D Complete Exhaust System
Manual

I'd prefer if the car has value added as opposed to it being taken away by a broken wallet. No one seems to know if it's genuinely a good idea? Heeeeelp!

It's a Euro thing, you wouldn't understand. Dem hotbois do shit like that all the time. 340i-style exhaust on a 318d; DPF & EGR delete, too. And then, obviously, the infamous flash tune for all the smokes and torques.

I think so, it's your car!

Also consider a small aftermarket resonator. Worst case scenario if you don't like the sound, you can add a Vibrant Ultraquiet in the middle of the car somewhere

Don't be afraid to play around with the sound either - adding/removing resonators, different brands, etc. If you find someone who isn't just trying to make a buck, they can suggest things or just work with you on perfecting the sound.
