Yeah, the blue light is flashing when doors are locked and unlocked.
Only when you remove the USB plug will it be off. I've left it plugged in since purchased but as Moocow has suggested, i'll be unplugging it if I'm away for long. Thanks for responses. |

Digging up an old thread guys.
I have the Tune2Air WMA1000 module and a china spec BMW Y-cable in my car and the iDrive doesn't want to recognise the device. The Tune2Air shows up as a bluetooth device on my iphone4 that I can connect to but the iDrive is just saying not supported and music from my phone won't stream through the car speakers. I suspect a dodgy Y-cable. I'm looking at purchasing a new genuine one from BMW tomorrow (hopefully price isn't too bad -_-) but just thought I'd check where you're all purchasing your Y-cables from? |

This isn't a big problem for me though as I have the cigarette lighter right next to the Y-cable input.

tell you the truth never used an iphone with this cable, but I did use an ipod classic 160 gb
I now use a tune2air dongle and it works fine. I've upgraded from the iPhone to Samsung s5 and never looking back, its a much better phone. I can connect to the cars phone Bluetooth and the tune2air at the same time, never could do that with iphone. |

Just ordered the one off Ebay so will see how I go. Hopefully works fine with the tune2air. BMW wanted $130-164 for the cable -_-

Just tried the iPhone 5 with the lighting adapter connected to it charges one way but if you take it out and flip the connector 180 deg it doesn't.
Have you updated your firmware on the Tune2Air Dongle, its a bit of a process. |

I dont know why you guys dont just buy a 64gb usb stick and stick all your music on that? It integrates with the steering controls etc and is a direct digital connection using the head units dac and not some cheap chinese dac that comes with the tune2 air. You can also use wav files for better sounding music! And no risk of being done by the cops for fiddling with your phone.

Tune2air is not just for mp3
I use pandora and iheartradio in the background while using the phones gps which is light years above what bmw has on offer on any of their cars |

Marty - Thanks for checking. With any luck this cable may be able to charge my phone. Otherwise I have the cigarette port right there so will just get a charger from Dick Smith. |

Quick update to this thread.
Received the cable and the Tune2Air1000 now shows up as a bluetooth device on my phone that I can connect to. Spotify mustic plays fine through the car speakers now but it seems the iDrive is only picking it up as AUX as there is no track info and the steering wheel controls aren't controlling Spotify etc. Only the volume on the steering wheel works. The volume via bluetooth is also noticably quieter than when I plug my iphone into the y-cable directly. Dodgy y-cable? Will a genuine cable show everything up properly? |

Spotify wont show track info with tune2air try standard mp3's
I found the Bluetooth louder than the head phone jack. Have you got the volume turned all the way up on the phone On the Samsung s5 there are separate volume controls for different media. |

When you say it works perfectly are you able to change tracks via the steering wheel using Spotify? That is the part I'm most frustrated by.

It's a real shame the Spotify track names won't show up on the iDrive screen as that would be much easier to control. I don't store mp3's on my phone so whether that works or not is little use to me unfortunately. |
