"Must have" 135i options?

Hey all,

I'm considering getting a 2011 135i, custom ordered in the next few weeks.

With your experience and in retrospect, what are the "MUST-HAVE" options/packages, if there are any?

Or to that effect, what did you get with your 135i that in hindsight isn't that useful today or didn't live up to your expectations?

I'm considering getting the base + value package + harman kardon sound and that's about it so far.

Thanks!

I would not order the Comfort Access keyless entry, Anti-theft alarm system, or Cold Weather Package again. The Comfort Access and Anti-theft weren't part of a package when I ordered. I got them a la carte. The Comfort Access works properly half the time. The alarm is overkill. I think I've used the heated seats once.

Power sport seats (need some package to get them I think) is the only "must have" imo. The rest depends on where you are, how you'll drive it, and personal preference.

I'd say the M-Sport is a must. If you have more then 1 driver, power seats are nice, since you'll have you're own settings. I don't think the HK sound is worth it though, especially since starting with the Sept. 2010 builds they went back to the midrange system as standard. If you need an upgraded sound system from there, you're better off doing it yourself.

I order mine with M-sport, Navi, BMW Assist w/BT, Coral Red Leather, premium sound, alarm, I believe the first three are must-haves. It all depends how much your willing to spend, you can easily get into mid 40s with all the options.

I should have just ordered with the premium package, it would have only been a couple hundred more, sometimes I wish I had power seats. I always seem to have a different driving position every time I move my seat.

pretty much everything other than the cold weather. If you want the heated seats order those separate not as part of this package. I disagree with the post above keyless entry is great i love it. M sport and navi are must havs.

Interesting, a lot are mentioning the HK sound as something they would have considered not getting. The dealer I ordered my car from didn't have any 1's with the HK sound. So I just pulled the trigger and bought it. Hope it wasn't a waste of $600. :-(

Must-haves? Everything! I didn't miss a single option box on the order form. I figured I was finally getting a BMW, and I didn't want to regret anything.

How easy is it to reach the I-Drive controller? Looks like its almost underneath the armrest and you have to raise the armrest to get to it. I was inclined not to get it because I thought it would be a pain to use.

On the cold weather package, its $250 more than the heated seats on the 135i for 2011 and all you get is a ski bag. I think heated seats are a must have up north.

All depends on YOUR wants/needs and what you can afford. I love the comfort access, heated seats, iDrive, power seats but those were extras: premium and M-sport packages were primary. There's no 'right' answer...except for those who think they rule the world

One of the two sport packages. Don't miss out on the sport seats!

If you use an iPod/MP3 player a lot, get the Nav. It will be MUCH easier to navigate though albums and the iDrive control is in a very natural position. Also, if you do enjoy music, be prepared to upgrade the standard system or pay for the HK upgrade. After a few EQ tweaks, I'm almost totally satisfied with the HK in the 135.

I added the Premium because I can't stand it when someone moves the seat and I lose my driving position. I can never seem to get it 'just right' and the memory seats saves my sanity.

I had ordered the M sport package with heated seats, upgraded audio, Anti theft alarmbut with manual seats.I would be the only one driving the car so I didnt want to waste on power seats ...though I have second thoughts about it sometimes[too late]. Any manual seat owners out there ... can u change the lumbar support in mnaul seats?

I didnt bother splurging on all the options as I was planning to buy a loaded luxury car next year. 135 i would be my daily fun car at most.

I think it should be standard, but BMW doesn't.
Maybe against the base system in the 2010 and pre-Sept. 2011 builds, but it's not much better then the Professional system in the 08, 09 and latest 2011 builds.

Premium Package which gives you the Power seats, Compass in rearview, BMW assist and bluetooth. Ether the M or Sport package to get the increased speed limiter and sport high performace tires. Satellite radio with the 1 year free. And if you get a sport package then the Tire rim insurance. I had mine 3 weeks and already replaced 1 tire and rim!!! Didn't costed me a dime to replace!

Slightly OT, but what setting do you have for the EQ? I still have not managed to dial it in right yet.

Get the Sport seats/package. The rest are just bells and whistles. If you can afford those, go for it.

And I love how the guys from Maryland and Florida are telling the OP from Seattle to skip the heated seats!

I got the premium and M-Sport. I love my sunroof and power seats- M-sport to me is a must. Being from Florida cold-weather options are not needed at all.
