Insurance claim --- Exhaust Upgrade! (vote)
Hey guys I have had a little mishap a couple weeks ago, nothing major but that story is in another thread (http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=828535)
To cut to the chase, I have $808 from insurance quoted for the back third of my exhaust to be replaced. I am wondering what the best route to take is. I would obviously like to upgrade if possible but am find with keeping it stock since I do love the sound. Anyways, feel free to chime in with suggestions and I'm making a poll as well. Here are my options and cost-to-me after insurance covers $800 for my muffler section to be replaced: Option 1: Stay stock and replace back to how I was --- $0 Option 2: BMW Performance Exhaust --- $400 Option 3: aFe Axle Back Exhaust --- ~$150 REFUND Option 4: Berk ceramic coated Race axle-back exhaust --- ~$150 REFUND Option 5: Berk FULL race exhaust ceramic coated --- ~$400 Option 6: OTHER I have never upgraded exhaust on a car before, this is just a perfect opportunity. I am not interested in anything loud and obnoxious, more after just a better sounding tone and some more grumble at idle/coasting. Don't want a lot of drone. (basically everything i've heard about the BMW PE, just maybe a bit more?) Link to the actual vote in the general section, didnt want to make the poll twice after I realized I probably should post this in this section... http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=835508 I am not necessarily interested in any more HP gains or anything performance oriented. If it added more, sure that's cool, but that's not my ultimate goal. Youtube exhaust clips really are useless to me because they are all filmed on camera phones and played back through my laptop speakers... and BMW PE is expensive but I've heard great things. Its just hard to turn down the aFe or Berk axle back exhaust and essentially get paid to do it. I just havent heard much about them and don't want anything sounding cheap. __________________

My advice would be to get the BMW Performance Exhaust. Its such a GREAT sounding exhaust! Especially once you have put some miles on it.
PS: I moved your thread into the right section.

And yeah everything I have heard about BMW PE is great, its just really tempting to go for aFe or Berk if they are similiar in sound and get PAID $150 versus SPENDING $400 for the PE

Well I just put it in the general section first then I realized I would probably get better advice in the exhaust section, and since I can't move it, I just copied it over. Sorry if that's frowned upon. I would delete one of them but I can't do that either...

Idk how anyone can justify the price for the Bmw exhaust....
It's insanely expensive for just an axel back exhaust...and it weighs alot compared to other systems...idk I went with the full berk street exhaust and I'm in love...to each his own good luck

Right with ya. I wouldn't be doing it without the $800 credit I have towards and exhaust through my insurance. You got any sound clips of yours? im not lookin for revvin it up and all that, just everyday driving use and what that would sound like. What model/part do you have exactly?

It really depends how loud you want it, if you want something more aggressive go with a muffler delete like the afe axelback, if you want something quieter go for the berk street

Ha it was tough. I listened to days of clips on youtube. In the end since it was so close, I figured sticking with BMW was the way to go, especially once I found out I could get it from Phil@reevesbmw on here for wayyy discounted price.
All-in-all, including my $1000 deductible, the grand total of cost to me out of my pocket is negative $54. Yep. I'm getting paid to upgrade to PE. The insurance had quoted me $574 to replace each headlight since there were some scratches on the lenses. So I bought some sandpaper and meguires light polishing compound and went to work. Buffed them out to looking better than I've ever seen them and declined the new shop to replace them, essentially covering my deductible and then some. That extra bit was more than enough to cover the PE and I'll still be getting money back without paying a dime. I call that a WIN
